Did anyone see that Schaub was born in Pittsburgh. Good bloodlines. Not saying this is a reason to trade for him.
Here's what I see as the approximate value of all the possible trade commodities (based on the draft pick value chart). Abraham: 750 (late 1st) Schaub: 350 (late 2nd) Jets picks: Rd 1: 1800, Rd 2: 550, Rd 3: 235, Rd 4: Round them to 2x70 Falcons picks: Rd 1: 1050, Rd 2: 430, Rd 3: 195 So here's what I propose. JAbe + a 4th(820) for Schaub + their 2nd (780). or JABe + our 2nd + a 4th(1370) for Schaub + their 1st(1400).
Well point Royal Tee and I respect your opinion and respect you as a poster. But I just really feel you are looking at this in the incorrect manner. The Jets are trying to fill as many holes as possible. Just think if we get Shaub how many holes we can actually fill. Look at it this way say we give Abraham and a 4th for Shaub and their 2nd like said above which is fair value trade. There will be teams DYING to trade up to 4 and grab either Young D-Brick Mario or Cutler depending on who trades up to 1 or 2. We have more leverage then we had before and im sure a team will trade up to our spot rather easily. That gives the Tangini group what they wanted the ability to trade down and aquire more picks. We could easily trade our #4for a mid round 1st and 2nd rounder. That would leave us with Chad and Shaub and I truly believe one of them will succeed. Im a fan of Shaub because not only is Mangini in love with him the Falcons are as well, and its not to up his trade value. They were high on him lastyear during the season as well and there was even talk last year that Shaub should have been starting over the humer hype machine Vick. And I agree he has the size and drive to succeed. I would much rather have Shaub a middle 1st and 3 early 2nd rounders that puts us into the position of fixing our O-Line and plugging our holes. Just think of it like this we can attack players like Ngata/Gilles/Mangold/Whitmore/Trueblood there are plenty of holes we can fill with 4 picks in roughly the top 50. Thats why I prefer this trade other than using our pick on a QB and paying big money to him. When Leinart is just as unproven as Shaub. They both had good college careers but Leinart was surrounded by a NFL team just discuising themselves as a college team. Young is dropping like an anvil in this draft. Cutler is a hype machine. IMO Every QB we are talking to is a risk and I feel this is the smallest risk because we will be acquiring a few extra picks. Just my two cents.
I remember when Buffalo traded for a backup named Rob Johnson, who in Jacksonville came in and looked great when he played. The Bills gave a first rounder to Jacksonville and a big contract to johnson. I'm not saying that he is like schaub, but it seems like a pretty similar situation.
I hate to say it but that trade you are suggesting is crazy. Who in the hell is going to give up that much for Abraham, and if so, then why haven't they come forth. :breakdance: You are practically asking for their entire draft plus Schaub for a guy that doesn't want to stay here in NY anyways. Are you crazy or what?
He's a backup only because its Michael Vick in front of him. Its not like he is thought of as Brooks Bollinger.
WHAT? You think the Jet Front Office values a 4th round pick the same as a 2nd round pick? If they do they should be FIRED AT ONCE! Do you think that way? I'll make you a deal..I'll trade you the 1992 Ford Escort with 150,000 miles I have sitting in my driveway for whatever car you are driving. After all, according to you all picks are valued the same, so I assume you think that all cars are valued the same. DEAL?
The OFFICIAL Matt Shaub Thread! Post your material here! provided they get what they want in return which is a pick from the Jets. INHO- There's no way there are going to give up Schaub, 3rd & 4th pick just for Abraham. I feel the deal will get done as my sources have been dead on target. Look for deal that consist of Schaub and a 3rd OR 4th pick (but likely 4th due to lack of demand for DE as of 3/16) in return for Abe. Or Jets get Schaub, atl #15 overall pick, and 2nd rd pick Falcons get Abe and our #our 1st rd pick. Look at it this way, we would probably trade down from the #2 pick anyways because New Orleans is going to get D Williams. So to get Schaub, thier 1st and 2nd rd pick is not bad. Fellas, they have a top 15 pick. Also, please remember that the problem is not the picks because we could get tones of 1st and 2nd picks, ITS THE MONEY to sign Abraham.
I could live with that trade, though I'm a little bit mixed. Moving down 11 spots is quite a bit, and getting Schaub is basically handing him the future of this offense. That's a risk, but it could pay off.
I like the idea of trading down & getting extra picks. The value of the draft this year is only at picks 1-3. There is going to be plenty of good players in the mid/late first & second round this year.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. I kind of like the Idea of grabbing Schaub, a 1st and second. For some reason I'm just not THRILLED though. Who would we grab at 15? I would LOVE to grab Deangelo. IMO he's going to be the next L.T./Marshall Faulk.
I know you can't reveal your source by name, but what's the source's assocation to this transaction? In the Falcons, in the Jets, close to one of the players? And you mention the source being dead on before. What else did he/she report that ended up being true?
No way do I do the second scenario. Depending on how the QB situation shakes out, I want either Mario, Brick, Hawk, Cutler, or Davis at #4. We should be able to get Schaub and AT LEAST their 3rd rounder for Abe. That's more than fair, just to expedite the makeup of our new team. But no way do I move down to #15 from #4 unless we get a CURRENT pro-bowl caliber player in the deal.
Unless a credible source is posted, I can't put much stock in the validity of what you say. I have seen about 50 of these posts over the last few weeks. If what you say is true then I think the Jets are coming out a little on the short end of the stick. Doesn't sound quite right.
They'll consider trading him to a desperate team that they can flease is what it says between the lines... Ellis
Yeah. The more I think about it the more I say NAY. I'm sure we could get a first rounder for Abe eventually (he'll lower his pricetag). And as much as I like Schaub's upside, I'm not willing to give up the farm for him. Abe for Schaub and at least a 2nd (I may be able to live with a third), or for the #15 straight up.
I read today that Mora said they have no interest in trading schaub... could he be posturing? Either way, hornet is right, until you can at least lend some semblance of credibility to your "source" (which for all i know, could be some dude in his dorm room scouring the internet), I can't buy anything that you say.
