No, Bortles has looked great this offseason. He came out of nowhere and a lot of folks in the Draft Forum thought he was all hype. Apparently the NFL guys knew better. He's a more athletic Rothliesberger. _
Edit: quoted the wrong post. I don't know how good he's going to be but he already looks like he's got command of that offense, that the game isn't too big for him and he looks comfortable in the huddle, at the line and while under pressure. Pretty good arm and smart. Geezuz he better not be the Pats Aaron Rogers. _
I dunno what to make of it either other than "soxxx pats Aaron Rogers" (with inappropriate capitalization).
For a 3rd overall pick, Bortles is terrible. His throws are all simple one read or no read spot passes to a zone. Don't let the hype machine fool you.
I know what you mean, and I agree with you. Garropolo has looked unsettlingly (for a Jet fan) composed and competent running their offense. Overall, hate to say it but NE looks pretty settled in. Hopefully the Logan Mankins trade bites 'em in the ass.
I don't think he's that good. He hasn't been. He can make simple passes. Yay. So put me on record with this one. Stokes if you can you please give me a game recap and break down what has been so awesome because right now it just sounds like you are regurgitating the ESPN commentary.
Judging by the way you've been hyping Sanchez in other threads, I'm guessing you are becoming a big Geno fan.
I've not read any recap or break down on him. I flip on the TV or the condensed game and the guy looks TO ME to be a more athletic Big Ben. I knew very little about him during the college season last year, looked at as many clips of him as I could predraft, still had no handle on the guy so I wasn't sure whether he was all hype or legit. When I look at him play, for a guy from a small school with absolutely no pedigree, TO ME he looks like he's a legit player. I see the size, the accuracy and the athleticism. I have no idea yet whether he's a dope and can't read defenses or whether he's really smart and will be able to figure it out. But from a physical and mechanical standpoint, it looks TO ME that the dude has all the talent in the world. Just going by what I'VE seen. _
Lol, I loved Sanchez and hope he does well in Philly but from mid-2011 and all the way through 2012 I came to realize that he he could not read defenses and was always concerned he'd throw a pick literally on every throw. Now it turns out he was probably injured that whole time AND he's got on OC that can play to his strengths and minimize his opportunity to fuck up. I need to see Geno read defenses before I go all in. Garappolo looks like he's pretty bright in limited action. _
Thought I saw kiwanuka, Pierre Paul and Patterson played. Didn't watch just read so not sure who besides the line played
CJ answered me earlier, the entire Giants starting lineup played last night. I think Coughlin did that last year, too.
Physically he's good enough to be in the NFL but he's not a franchise QB. Not now anyway. As far as reading the D, going through reads, etc. he is lacking. He's had a high cmpltn % b/c most of his throws are really easy ones. Lots of short slants, screens, quick throws. As a pocket passer he struggles. When he has to make more difficult throws he struggles. 3rd and 3-7 he was 54% last yr. Bridgewater by comparison was 76%. He's a project, not a first round franchise QB. Now that's opinion but do you really trust the Jags when it comes to drafting franchise qb's? He'll end up starting pretty soon though.
