This younger guy earlier today asked me "Is Jim Harbaugh an offensive guy or defensive guy?" Kids these days! Made me feel old.
Lombardi is reporting that Jim Caldwell has two more head coaching interviews lined up and has started putting together a staff for his eventual return to the league. This would be a massive fuck up on our part if this is the direction we went in.
Couldn't agree more. Not sure if the Jets really need another milquetoast nice-guy running the CS, especially one with Caldwell's track record.
It’s the track record that bothers me. His stint with the Lions was full of disappointment and awful decisions. How can you not find more success with Stafford and prime Megatron? Maybe he’d bring along Jim Bob Cooter to really make sure Sam never hits his star potential. Edit: eh, not prime Megatron. Prime Tate and back-end-of-prime Megatron. Still, that almost makes it worse. It’s just a report that he’s got other interviews lined up. No inclination one is the Jets but considering we are most likely going to have an opening, it’s not news you want to hear. This rule has to go. It’s more diminishing to black head coaching candidates at this point. Some of them are being used as nothing more than a check mark on a piece of paper. Stupid.
Caldwell seems like a better fit for the NFC teams like GB or Zona.I could even see him in the burgh if Tomlin is axed. Hes not a fit for this job.Not even in the slightest
Dan Campbell in New Orleans has a good resume. Some head coaching experience as the Miami interim, worked under Payton.
Thought the same thing.Campbell is known as being a great leader. But the Miami interim HC scares me off given our current head coach held the same title
Campbell is an interesting name and very well thought of. I always liked the guy when he was on the Giants and as he got into coaching. Very solid, good leader type. http://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/...phins-cowboys-colts/2808dcb6pxoo131f095zz7qgp
I never wanted a Monday to happen so much as this upcoming one. I can’t wait until this offseason kicks off and we hopefully see what’s in store for the future. Instead of getting us excited as fans that we have a great QB and the future that comes with it, this organization has made sure to keep us depressed by keeping this inept head coach around and downplaying any rumors that will get any better. I assume they have a plan in place and keeping their cards close to the chest, but this is the New York Jets we’re talking about so you can’t be too sure.
Riley said he's staying at Oklahoma. I didn't think we'd get him anyway, but if the Browns don't keep Williams they'll be competing for the same coaches we are now that Riley is off the market. https://nypost.com/2018/12/27/hot-nfl-coaching-target-lincoln-riley-ends-jets-hope/amp/
Never thought Riley was headed to Browns but rather Dallas.I get the feeling Williams is retained but even so competing or not we each can only hire one guy. Mccarthy makes sense for them but theres speculation he & Dorsey never got along.
I would be very surprised if that is the case. There may be tampering considerations with guys under contract to another team but why would the league get involved in what ownership does as far as guys not under contract? A team should be able to line somebody up before firing the guy driving the bus off the cliff.
Do you really think Riley is going to say that he’s leaving for the NFL now? A few days before the college playoffs? Just wait till a few days after Bama whoops them then we’ll see
Let's do another five years of another defensive coach. It will certainly work this time. There is just no way that it will play out like the last three head coaches. This will give you a clue as to why people may want Carmichael: http://forums.theganggreen.com/thre...w-poll-please-vote.91482/page-21#post-3770892
