I'm all in on McCarthy, just as you are I believe :) ... Packer fans, they respect McCarthy even after the firing, the situation just got stale over in GB, it happens ...

I think with McCarthy and a decent coaching staff, Jets should be contending for a playoff spot next year. We look back in 4 years, if it doesn't work out, at least Darnold and this offense will be developed.

Nah I hated the Bowles choice from the beginning.

Gase wont last 3 years here and so much for our potential franchise qb kiss his development goodbye

As I've said before.. Let McCarthy stop the bleeding and get this franchise back to respectability.

Well.. Gase gets to prove everyone wrong..... Sam is probably the 2nd best QB he's had... If he can't have success with him, who can he have success with

Shit organization. Simply a shit organization. They didn't wanna pay $8m-ish for McCarthy is my guess.

Is it too late to bring back Bowles. I would prefer losing with Bowles to losing with a guy like Gase.

The positive here is for the people that dislike Mac this means a double firing and complete new direction in 2021.

Way back in 1986 when I was 6 I saw the New York Jets put up 51 points. I didn't know that was possible in football. I thought I was watching the greatest team ever. I was certain I'd see them win multiple super bowls. Some of that hope has lingered over the past 33 years. No more. Hiring Gase over McCarthy is madness.

Can't wait to hear the leaks about why McCarthy wasn't hired... should be an interesting read.

I was referring to the Matt Rhule, situation, they didn't want him to bring in his own guys, only the ones they approve. I wonder if Gase will have the same restriction. Maybe they only did it for Rhule because he's more of an unknown.

Oh well... Its Chris Johnson's team and if he wants to sign Gase, he'll do it. And he did it.. Now its up to the fans to either follow along or get off the train.
This fits Chris Johnson's need for total control. The entire arranged marriage thing is a Johnson construct and you just saw it with Rhule.

    As per Cimini:
    Rich CiminiESPN Staff Writer
The Jets are hiring former Dolphins coach Adam Gase, ESPN's Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington first reported. Mike McCarthy would've been the better choice, based on his track record. The Jets also considered Baylor coach Matt Rhule, but he had too many questions. Gase was the compromise candidate.

BTW.. What The Fuck Is a Compromise Candidate? These two idiots took their time and still couldn't come to a consensus? Oh for God's sakes! Just sell the fkcn team Woody!

Compromise candidate, mac didn’t feel comfortable bringing in a guy with actual clout in McCarthy, Johnson didn’t feel comfortable bringing in an unknown that Mac could influence.
Gase falls right in the middle.

Considering the Browns started trying to hire McCarthy during the last couple weeks of the season, were still trying to get him after their season ended, and he came to NY, the day he was supposed to interview with them, they publicly stated retaining Kitchens would not be a priority for the next HC. I'd say it seems more like McCarthy was not interested in the Browns job. Given his familiarity with the entire Browns FO. I'm sure he was descrete in turning down the job. Unlike his turning down the Cardinals.
McCarthy never commented on the Browns job. La Confora speculated that McCarthy would only coach the Browns or sit out the 2019 season. His reasoning was he didn't want to uproot his children from school. Guess he wasn't aware of the distance between Green Bay and Cleveland.
