Don't get me wrong. They were just talking about Brees on ESPN, that if anyone can come back and be great it's Brees. That is exactly how I feel about Pennington. It honestly looked like Mangini isn't convinced Chad will be okay, and he is just trying to smokescreen the situation. I will be happy if Pennington comes back and is the guy for the next 3 or 4 years, and leads us into the SB. I won't be surprised if it doesn't work out though. How many teams carry 3 active QBs, and have a fifth assigned to NFL Europe, and still pick one in round 2, trading up no less!
My gut feeling about the whole QB situation is that this season we are just treading water until next draft. #1 pick in 07 will be a QB
i dont see it.. they wouldnt have draft clemens in rd 2... these guys are stubborn about drafting qbs in rd 1.. lol look at parcells guy needs a qb for years and still keeps signing retreads.
No way! Clemens was drafted to be the QB of the Jets. They may or may not sit him for awhile behind Ramsey but he is the QB of the future.
This QB could be a starter, we'll groom him under Ramsey and then start him in '07. Especially with scrimmage behind his fellow rookie O line. We could be developing a nice team.
Is anyone uncomfortable with Clemens being our future? This means no Stanton or Quinn. WHat happened to our pick by the way? OH it's pick 189, not 182, can someone run that trade by me again, what did we get again?
I know F A about him and doubt many people on her do either , so yes I'm a little sceptical. I know the whole round 6 Brady thing keeps getting brought up and it is a lottery when it comes to the draft but I do not see Clemens as our future , yet.
I'm willing to play wait-and-see with Clemmens. However, I was a big supporter of ignoring QB this year, and doing everything possible to assure us of Quinn next year. Looks like that isn't going to happen. If this kid has talent, who knows? Hell, with 4 QBs, all with their own strengths, there is a good chance that right now, we have our now and future starter on the team. Penny could recover and be the guy we hoped he was years ago. We have to play it safe and assume it isn't going to work out with him though. Ramsey could be much better than Gibbs ever gave him credit for. Gibbs isn't my favorite coach in the world, but he is usually a very good judge of QB talent. Bollinger could be very good behind a good Oline. I have always liked him, seeing him in preseason over the past few years. I thought he looked okay last year with nothing to protect him. Clemmens shot up the charts over the past few weeks. Supposedly we weren't the only ones with an eye on him. Can he be the guy? I'm not convinced, as I wanted Croyle, but who knows? I think we need to realize we won't have an answer to this question until at least sometime around Halloween.
Stanley, Montavious..........where the hell do these names come from? I sometimes look at my 1 yr old boy and think about some of the names in the NFL and think he would never forgive me as soon as he learns to speak.
Points I echo. Brooks should be given alot of credit for last season , that must have taken alot of character to stand in there
It almost sounded like Matty is already looking ahead to the expiration of his first big contract. LOL.
