I think I've seen enough where I don't want this staff around to impact whichever QB we draft next year. Too much incompetence, too much stupidity. You can't have these guys around a young QB.
They got 3 points from that plan. We could have tried some screen passes, play action rollouts, read options, QB design runs, tush push with a yard to go, QB sneaks, get Fields in motion and cut the field in half. But I guess he was worried we would get 0 points then, so upon further review in hindsight he was happy to take the bird at hand of 3 points from offense and try to win that way... That's a pretty odd assessment if you ask me.
What's even more amazing is that he was on the Kotite teams.... the dude should really understand what it takes to suck
Yeah, I think that's my default position as well. There would need to be some miraculous changes for him to stay on for the second year, truly miraculous. And no, by that I do not mean winning a couple of meaningless games at the very end when the season has long been over to hurt the draft position for the next coach.
That whole press conference where Glenn kept saying there was confusion over the fucking first down is enough to make me not want this staff around a young QB. And the whole end of half/end of game sequence.
I kept yelling at the screen, "Bootleg, Bootleg!!" That would have been a fine call on that one 4th down. I'm JSMH They have possibly one of the most gifted running QB's of this generation and all they did was up the gut with Hall. I mean, damn. If you aren't going to throw it you have to dig waaaayyyy deep into the run play well. Where the hell were the RPO's? At this point, not only does Glenn have to go but Fields needs to be benched. He is, without a doubt, afraid to throw the ball. He had no less than 3 wide open (by NFL standards) receivers on 3 different plays and literally checked to a different receiver. Unreal. Edit: let me check myself...he didn't check down to a different receiver. He got pasted for 10 yd. losses, on average, in sacks.
In Glenn's defense, he got confused. I mean the ref put the ball a yard before the sticks. The second ref is standing on the sideline next to him with his hand raised a yard before the sticks. The scoreboard says 4th down and a yard. Very confusing situation. Naturally the only right thing to do is run out the clock and look at the tape.
Yeah, pretty hard to argue with someone AFTER they turn out to be correct. Yet some people still do it. Btw, looks like AG's fellow coordinator in Detroit and now rookie HC just went above 500. The coordinator, whose side of the ball was actually good there. Maybe large ships don't have to take years to turn and look like absolutely the worst embarrassment in the process. Unless Chicago (and Jags) had small ships, that could be it also.
