We have to keep this coaching staff intact for one more year. Maybe you get rid of the DC, but Chan Gailey and the play-calling has probably been the only decent thing this year. Receivers been getting open.

You have to give the appearance of stability and continuity or you'll just attract more first timers to the job. No established HC would want to put their reputations on the line for shaky ownership and faulty leadership in the FO. Unless the opportunity of a lifetime candidate (Harbaugh) becomes availble. You don't do it to replace one newbie for another.

Yeah, I don't see Harbaugh leaving Michigan anytime soon, the guy wants to beat Nick Saban. This season may be lost, but I would like to see if Bowles and Mac can bounce back starting this off-season. We praised them last season, and while they BOTH regressed this season, both deserve a shot at redemption. Firing them after 2 years, no one would want to come here unless they have complete control of the franchise.

I disagree on Gailey a lot. The wide receivers have been getting open because they are good players. Gailey has been very predictable this year:
-You can tell when its a running play based on the formation
-He's been calling screens in situations where it is not appropriate to do so.
-No creativity in the running game.
    -tempo too slow
-this one could be Fitzpatrick's fault, but they've leaned on Marshall way too much.

I liked the Gailey hiring at the time but I think a better coordinator keeps the defense off guard better and spreads it around which opens up the offense for bigger plays.

I also think a better coordinator does a better job adjusting at halftime. 4 of the 5 games the offense been kept out of the end zone in the second half (I am not counting that fluke fumble recovery TD from Peake). That's unacceptable. No wonder they are 1-4, 4 games with no second half TDs?

Jets don't have a running back you can confidently give 20 carries to so Gailey has to think of other ways to get the RBs the football. I think the play-calling has been inconsistent, but it's tough to get this team into any rhythm when you are consistently turning the football over / over targeting players that drop the ball in crucial situations. Even though the jets have good receivers, getting them open on a consistent basis you still have to give some credit to the coordinator for putting them in good situations and I think Gailey has done a good job of that. About targeting Marshall, Fitz can't make reads which effectively can take other receivers out of the game-plan. He's over-targeting Marshall no doubt.

I think Gailey is the last person you can blame this on. The big plays are limited because we have a QB that has a limited arm.

I've seen ball spot challenges overturned before, but it was obvious they got the spot right yesterday. He had no business challenging that and easily giving away a timeout there. Stupid. Inexcusable.

I'm so depressed today, not because we're 1-4, but because we know we have another lousy coach we have to deal with for another 1, 2, 3 years after this disaster finally comes to an end.

This,,,,,is exactly how I feel ! Its not that we have any excuses, injuries, short work weeks, bad bounces,,,,this is fundamental stuff we are witnessing . The coach does not learn from mistakes they are more glaring each week ! I wish I was wrong about this guy but Im not,,,yesterday he amazed all of us with his decisions and to top it off he defended his decisions in the postgame ! Mind blowing and shades of Kotite ! Can you imagine Parcells doing these things and defending them afterwards ? Yes Parcells messed up at times they all do but not on a continuing basis,,I mean Rex had faults and sucked in my eyes but damn this guy is making Rex look like Lombardi !

Just get me a coaching staff that is aggressive and innovative...and sharp when it comes to time/game management

I've seen enough to realize the guys we have now are none of that

They will probably keep Bowles around, yes, but I could see him losing his job he if loses the locker room. And considering Sheldon Richardson's interesting comments yesterday.... "I don't know (if all the players are playing their hardest)" It seems like a possibility it could happen

I apologize for not reading the first 31 pages before commenting. I was on-board with this regime until this week. Bowles is starting to look clueless and lost. The offense is bland and predictable. Gailey runs the offense as if they already had a 21 point lead. Gadget plays are effective once in a while, even only for the purpose of creating a decoy or confusion. Even with Decker out, we have enough skilled players to try some razzle dazzle. If Kacy is running the defense, he needs to be fired immediately. We have an insanely skilled defense who are constantly out of position. Our defense schemes are awful. Right now, the only constant besides failure has been Lachlan Edwards. He is on the north side of better punters in the league.

Agreed. The downside of losing a timeout and the ability to challenge two more plays outweighs the possibility of a close play being overturned. The only time you challenge a spot is if you are sure as shit positive. This team needs all three time out at the end of the game based on how we have been playing.

A lot and he would have to want out or be pushed out of Michigan but it could be done. The benefits of being successful in NY far outweigh the negatives of failing.

The GM brings you a smorgasboard of talent and Chefs {Coaching Staff} cant boil an egg

The Customers (Fans) will be leaving the premeses

I think Chan Gailey is salvageable after a talking to by the GM

The rest of them should be shown the door

You think Coaches don't know what happens if you lose miserably?? Happens at College level too Look at NDame

So the argument that we are scaring candidates away is useless

Get Harbaugh in here get Gruden in here...imho

With each lopsided loss and stupidity by the HC I bet the FO puts an end to the bleeding

I'm getting pretty fed up with the coaching as well. I have no idea what Kacy Roger's job on the team is right now, but this defense looks terrible, so he must be held accountable.

I like everything about Bowles except for his X's and O's on the field. Unfortunately, that is by far the most important aspect of the game. I love how he handles the media, and that he is basically an "anti-Rex" off the field. I also dont care that he doesn't show fire or emotion on the sidelines, I dont think that makes a difference at all. I tend to ignore the "he doesnt get his guys ready to play" criticism. Fans cant really quantify how much difference a coach makes week to week.

I was starting to have my issues with him when he didn't go for 2 against Buffalo. That was just a factual mistake. Ridiculously easy decision. If every fan watching the game knows what the coach doesnt, that is a major red flag.

I have no problem with coaches playing it safe at times, especially with such a turnover prone QB. In the eyes of the fans/media, the coach will always be wrong if the play doesnt go the Jets way. If they go for it on 4th and miss, they should have kicked the FG. If the FG misses, than he should have went for it. Fans are experts at using hindsight.

However, punting it yesterday was such an egregious blunder. Defense couldnt stop anything, and the Jets were down 2 scores. With 7 minutes left, I have no idea what the thought process was there. They were absolutely in 4 down territory. No excuses to punt there. When my fiance can acknowledge they should be going for it, there is no excuse that the coach doesnt get it. Bowles standing by that decision is alarming as well. At least he acknowledged that he should have went for 2 against Buffalo.

I'm not going to go for the throat saying the staff should be fired right now. Bowles seems like an intelligent man. He can learn. You cant hire a first time head coach and expect him to be perfect out of the gate. However, next season is up in the air IMO. He keeps making obvious mistakes over the course of the year, and I have no problem exploring other options.

Why, oh why, did Seattle have to make it to the SB in 2014? We settled for second runner up...

Todd Bowles actually reminds of a guy named Ray Rhodes who coached two different NFL teams in the NFL, what, about 10-20 years ago? Everyone said Rhoades had such a brilliant mind but he was totally emotionless on sideline and his teams stunk. He somehow parlayed that reputation into two NFL head coaching jobs, but I don't recall his teams being very good. Bowles always looks like he is ready to fall asleep during the game, and so far many of his decisions have made him appear clueless.
