he reminds me of an old sudan that breached 100k miles a while ago that "runs just fine" as it sits in your driveway like it inexplicably has for the last decade. You've never really had any insurmountable mechanical problems with it despite the engine not being what it used to, and it was only ever a useful used buy to begin with, but hey you can still get groceries in it and stuff so it'll do for now while you're in the market for a newer ride.
Yes that is the old Rex defense that had was not blitzing as much. Now you have a defense that will be bringing it 70-80% and you will need to get pressure faster on the QB. This is where Pace will be a liability.
Well, it was great news hearing Lornzo Mauldin having a great day today. Doing exactly what the Jets need and bringing pressure.
Pace is like an ol hound dog you've had in the family forever. You know you shoulda took him out back and shot him 5 yrs ago but there he is, snoring away, sprawled out in the middle of the living room.
What Rex defense didn't blitz a lot? You're wrong so you're grasping. We're talking about Pace's solid play against the run and how that is valuable. He's not a premiere pass rusher but he still helps to push the pocket and keep contain which is important against mobile quarterbacks. No one said he's an all world player which is why he makes $2.1 million not $14 million. He's more valuable as a player in this defense than anyone we'll find on the street.
Reilly played mainly special teams so those stats are pretty good. Its time for him to step up and replace Pace. Rex was loyal to losers and that is why Pace hung around. New regime different people getting a chance. Remember someone else posted its not about stats its about containment. Well you can find someone to do it better than Pace has the last 3 years and cheaper.
To call Pace a loser is funny when in the same paragraph you bring up a player that may not even make the roster.
You mean like Pace. Maybe we will stop using Garrayed and start saying man he got Paced. Well I hope Pace get Paced. Pace stats have drastically gone down since 2008. Why keep someone around who's play has dimished because he can't be on PED's anymore. He had 80 tackles when he first arrived on the scene for the Jets now he down to 40. By contrast the Ravens traded off Ngata who had a similar demise in stats. See that is how successful teams reload and continue to stay competitive.
First you said he's a contained guy not a sack artist. Now you brining up 10 sacks 2 years ago. I stated that his TOTAL tackles have significantly declines since 2008. Its less than half. So now what do you want to talk about his fumble recoveries? I'm bringing up his whole football package and its all down.
No you didn't, you said his stats declined since 2008, I quoted the post, and you were wrong. Again. And I don't think you can even keep track of who you are arguing with because you are attributing words someone else said to me Even now you're talking out both sides of your mouth, first you say you said it was tackles declining since 2008 (wrong, you said stats) and now you say "total football package". Should I go ahead and assume you're just talking about tackles again since that seems to be your entire argument?
He's not worth the money he's about to make this year. If he returns in a limited role on a 1yr vet minimum kind of deal (see Colon) I'd welcome him back, but at 2.5 mil. as a starter there's no way he should be brought back.
Love the kid and love the pick. by years end he will be the leader of this team. he might not be a star but he is a leader of men for sure. im looking forward to him being an every down play and to him blowing things up in the back field and getting guys fired up. I think he can also play inside in nickel situatios, really versatile player
you really cant... especially not some special teams scrub. pace is a high iq player and that has some value. he is no longer an every down player, nor do we need him to be, nor is he being paid like one. and its great to have a vet like him around to help bring along someone like mauldin.
Not sure if he's serious. But as long as you play well your age doesn't matter. Cameron Wake is almost 35 but nobody is discriminating against him because he plays like he's 26, in his prime. Nobody discriminates against Geno Smith because he's young, they criticize him because he doesn't get the job done. Stop looking for excuses. As long as you play well none of the other stuff matters.
while I've never been one to write off a player for being over 30, age is absolutely a factor in the NFL when it comes to getting a job. he's half joking, but its clear that opportunities present themselves differently to players of different ages and positions. based on his age in relation to others in this league he's lucky to be playing this long, let alone getting a chance to start, and he knows it. that said I can easily see him sticking around a couple years, if not here than spotting some other outside LB someplace else.
