The Falcons really screwed themselves over, being so greedy. They could've offered Schaub, and wouldn't have to worry about giving up a 1st round pick. But they wouldn't even give HIM up. Now it's going to take a lot more from them in terms of draft picks to get this done. I love the stance Tangini is taking on this. If this were Bradway, Abraham would have been traded for a 3rd round pick or something.
Completely off topic, but my "sources" just gave me this information. Wonderlic Test Results: Vince Young- 15 Marcus Vick- 11 Matt Leinart- 35 Nick Mangold- 35 AVG QB SCORE- 24.6
Don't be stupid...An organization will never let the public or media know that they are split on something. Players do that stuff. And If McKay is as bright as the rest of the nfl thinks he is then there is no way that they would give that indication out to anybody. Beside, it not true, Sheffler never said anything about Abrahams agent going to Seattle. All of a sudden Abraham caves in and his agent flies into Seattle without Abe over the weekend.
The Jets made a mistake by not keeping him. The Falcons are making an even bigger one by not doing everything they can to get him.
That looks exactly what Mangini is doing. Playing hardball as stated in your other post. Obviously JA would rather get a LT deal so would sign with Seattle if it came down to it. However, let's just say he doesn't because the 'don't trade the pick' faction in Seattle wins out, and Abraham comes back. Wouldn't we lose him for nothing after the season? That's where playing hardball would backfire. That being said, with Seattle getting all their good players back from a SB team, the strategy of trading the pick for Abraham is a viable option. A healthy JA is the exact kind of player that could propel them to a SB, a la Reggie White or Simeon Rice. They should do it, from their standpoint.
I think its too late to offer Schaub. Your FO really dropped the ball on this one. Abe is worth at least a mid 1st rounder.
Its pretty obvious to me that if Atlanta wants Abe they are gonna have to sweeten the offer. We hold all the cards as long as Seattle stays interested..I say before long they are offering us Shaub.
Well then why is your FO willing to give him up for the 31st pick.... I tell ya some of you Jets fans are kinda funny....
So let me ask you this: What if Atlanta sweetened the offer, but not a first. So they came back and said we'll give you our 2nd, 3rd and 5th round picks. Would that be better than Seattle's 1st pick (31 overall)?
They're willing to, if that's the best offer they can get. Since the Falcons are being way too greedy in this deal, the #31 for Abraham is the best deal out there. That doesn't mean he's not worth a better pick. It's just the best deal out there, unless Atlanta actually offers something of value.
hahah this whole "sources" thinkg is so ridiculous...i wish we were back 25 years ago when there wasnt all this quote unquote sources so we wouldnt have to put up with every teenager who has computer acting like hes john clayton
geezz the market decides what Abr. is worth , you might "feel" he's worth a mid 1st rounder but the fact is that his worth the 31st pick. no more. Unless a team offers more that's it, and your FO seems to agree. What makes the whole stressful is the rumors that Abr. doesn't want to go to Seahawks, but Atlanta.... I think this will be settled in the next few days......
