Alright Guys, I changed the thread title in hopes of having some fun. don't turn this into a pissing match. just take it as two drunk rants and enjoy the humor of reading someone else's drunken ramblings.
Mangold ,,,,,happy birthday  I will say this I like your enthusiasm but that said we still do not have one single lb on this team that can cover a rb out of the back field or a TE,,,,,,,did I mention our safeties and how they can hit at times but cannot cover u even in your dwi state,,,,,,,,,,,as for our def lineman ,,,yes they can stop the run pretty well but if you pass against them they cannot get near you,,even with the help of 3 or 4other guys from the secondary,,,,,,,,again happy birthday
I added a nice bottle of red wine to the equation. Unsure why. Bottle was supposed to be for nice dinner gf was to cook. Have to pick up another bottle this afternoon. Jets are still winning. The end.
By the way you're all wrong. It's a mix of cheap Islay malts. It will put hair on your chest. Lots and lots of hair. I currently have too much hair after drinking this paint thinner shit. I will be returning to my old Johnnie Black ways after this. I'm not man enough to save the $20 a bottle. It is decided.
Thanks. Laugh at Maybin now. Just like everybody laughed at him last year. I don't care what anyone says that kid is a disruptive little shit. Technique or no. Balance or no. With a legitimate rusher on the other end, there is going to be just no way you can account for Maybin and the other OLB on every passing play without sacrificing some major offensive weaponry (i.e. T.E, switching WR for OL.) You'll see.
Well when you put it that way who won't you convince. But Let's hope you're right .... At least Jesus is on our side now.. BTW's HAPPY Birthday
I actually had this opinion until a week or two ago, until a few posters convinced me otherwise in the draft forum. The thing is that Sione obviously does his job even against the pass (pushing pocket a bit and eating block/s). The thing is that DeVito does the same and that's all we really need for him. I think almost all fans, (myself included) probably actually take this for granted from DeVito somewhat. The main point though, is that Mo started drawing that double as last year wore on. You KNOW that he's only going to start to do that more. I wanted Brockers at 16, possibly even trading up a few slots. People started explaining how in Rex's scheme, Brockers doesn't rush the pass in the way we need him to. We just need guys to do just what our DL does, and if you can even draw the double with Wilk then you're golden with 1 on 1's with your OLB's around the edge or even up the middle with an ILB occasionally. The problem has been that our LB's have been for shit, and our S's couldn't cover TE's or HB's. That is all getting revamped now. Maybin will be on the field on up to 30-50% of defensive plays I think. There's a super strong OLB class this year. I think your average first round pick pans out something like what 75% of the time? Obviously OLB passrusher busts a little more often...say 65% only. But then you have to account for the super strong OLB draft class and realize that we'll probably have 1st or 2nd crack at it BESIDES. I'm thinking we're going to get a non-Gholston something like 80% of the time. Those are good odds where I'm from.
Oh my word ,,,I believe you are beginning to sober up as that made some sense to me ,,this is not Sid Rosenberg that I am replying to is it ,,,,so who do u want with the pick,,,,,,Hightower ,,,,,,,,he plays inside and outside,,,,but I stray,,,,,,,,,,on that note it is time for a ill Kettle One,again enjoy the birthday or day after
retarded??? perhaps you should go back and read some of your own bravado from last season just before the giants game and there after talking about how the jets were Sbowl contenders and all the nay sayers were going to be called out by you," the know it all"! worked out great with all your knowledge and all. perhaps over many many years all your blowhard rants will one day come true, even a retard has to hit with those odds. using being drunk as an excuse, typical!
For some reason, this thread reminds me of Fight Club. We are a generation of men that has been raised by women. We've forgotten what it means to be men. Men should get drunk and say shit. Not all the time, but when they want to, and nobody should hold it against them, least of all other men. I personally would draw the line at punching people for fun, but that's just me. Happy birthday 74Mangold.
I thought that was the whole reason we go out and watch gigantic beastly men crashing into each other as violently as possible, in a well-officiated and civilized manner. Thank you NFL. Providing just the right dose of hate and aggression in this pussified brave new world. I don't know about you, but it seems to help me stay sane.
So on one hand he's gonna be this terror that needs to be accounted for on every pass play, but on the other he might only play 30% of the snaps? That makes a lot of sense. Last any of us saw, this guy couldn't consistently beat out Jamaal Westerman for snaps, but now he's someone that should be feared by opposing offenses? I also think you're delusional if you think 65% of first round pass rushers make a relevant impact in their first year. In the past five years there have been eight players that fit that criteria. Von Miller Aldon Smith Ryan Kerrigan Adrian Clayborn JPP Brian Orakpo Clay Mathews Gaines Adams That's a pretty nice list, of course there are 13 guys who were taken in the first round that didn't come close to doing that Robert Quinn Brandon Graham Derrick Morgan Jerry Hughes Aaron Maybin (the immortal) Larry English Robert Ayers Chris Long Vernon Gholston (remember him?) Lawrence Jackson Jamaal Anderson Jarvis Moss Anthony Spencer So don't try to sell me that it's any kind of sure thing that they're gonna be able to draft someone who's gonna be a playmaker in 2012. Thanks for the laugh though
I'm sure you're diluting the stats however you can but still...even at 40% with your average draft class you'd have to expect to get over 60% with the pick of the litter in this one quite easily I'm guessing. Those numbers are surely as conservative as possible...I'm sure deeper analysis would prove out significantly higher expectation. I don't really care enough to prove it to you so congrats....partial credit for criticism. Saying 30% of the low end of snaps for Maybin is just not trying to overstate his potential impact. I wouldn't be surprised to see him play 60%+ of snaps if he's as effective as I think he probably will be...but I don't know what the lineup is or our plans to utilize him. He could come in as infrequently as 30% and still wreak havoc on defenses. Just like he did for the better part of last year. If you think that's wrong, I think you're crazy.
