And the same people would still be asking for him to get fired and blaming him for a worst draft pick. It's no win territory.

Nah. Only five active head coaches have coached for more than a decade in the NFL. Mike Tomlin, Andy Reid, Sean Payton, John Harbaugh and Pete Carroll.

What 20 year head coaches are you not able to use? Sean Payton, Harbaugh and Tomlin all had winning records in their first year too for what it’s worth.

I have no faith in Woody either, but what's the alternative? Keep a coach we know is bad and hope he miraculously improves?

The logic just doesn't work out for keeping Glenn. We have a lot of evidence Glenn is a bad coach. Improvement isn't a given. Most bad coaches just stay bad. A new hire could be bad, sure, but he could also be good, and we have no reason to think he's bad yet like we do with Glenn.

So what coaches with 5 or 6 wins in their first year went on to be successful? I wasn’t limiting the criteria to 3 wins, just that futile first seasons often mean a coach won’t be successful.

Probably go way way back and get a bunch. McCarthy also isnt a coach now but he's been in the mix most of the past 20 years and probably will be again.

I get your point. I'm giving Glenn one more year to see if he really does suck as much as people think. The jets don't have an nfl roster or qb. If he gets fired this off season I have little faith anyone good will want to come here, but I will not be effected either thinking it's this terrible move setting is back 5 years. Maybe if he gets anther chance and succeeds, which we have seen before from jet coaches.

McCarthy was 8-8 in his first year so it doesn’t even work for the argument you’re making.

We started the season 0-7 before we traded Quinnen and Sauce and 2 of our 3 total wins were solely because of unsustainable special teams miracles.

The argument that Glenn only looks bad because we've been intentionally tanking at the end of the season holds zero weight.

that list would be much longer and it would include the guy that everyone wants to fire Glenn for: Kliff Kingsbury (5-10-1) in his first season as HC

I just don't see the value in evaluating coaches success based on a shitty first year. It's basically the same reasons I have a problem with the GDS crowd. We are solely talking about the head coach while ignoring:

    Our owner
The past 15 years of sucking
    Our owner
The constant rebuilds. If you were applying for jobs would you want to join the place that fires leadership every 3 years?
The current roster, probably worst in nfl and what we have had in years

Way too many factors to just pin it on the head coach. Could someone else do better? Yes. But we've made the bed and nobody will want to come here if we blow it up again so quickly.

Coaches that get fired their first year, something comes out that is extremely daming to that person most of the time.

The idea the jets will get someone who can improve this roster to even say 6 wins is a hard bet to make.

This "nobody will want to come here" argument makes no sense. There are very few HC openings every year and every one offers a massive pay increase for the guys who get one. There are always more candidates than openings. If you get here and you're good, you're not going to be fired in 3 seasons.

The issue isn't that we fire guys too quickly. The issue is that we don't hire anyone worth keeping because Woody has no idea what to look for in a coach.

The war chest of draft picks we have is also very attractive to an incoming head coach.

This is one year we need fire the HC immediately and hire an offensive minded guy or someone with experience. Yet Woody won’t and when we do fire him we will do the same dumb shyt again and hire a newbie DC or defensive minded guy

The roster argument to me does not make sense. We had two guys, who were so valuable, we got a haul for them, yet we started 0-7 with them. JJ was back and Mooge actually upgraded IDL with Phillips and Briggs. This was similar defense that did MUCH better with Bob and quite a bit better even with Ulbrich. Now all of the sudden this is not an NFL roster? No way. This is just an excuse.

The problem is the coach, and it would be idiotic to waste another year and have this coach try to develop a QB. How did Justin Fields' development work out? You know that in Pitts with Rodgers they only averaged 1 point more than with Fields and have a worse winning %? Fields was never this bad. And we expect the same guys who got the absolute worst out of Fields, the opposite of development, a regression, to develop a young QB? This just makes no sense.

Let's stop with the excuses. No NFL roster, no QB. Same roster did much better defensively with Bob and the QB won more and played way better in other places. It should be quite obvious at this point where the problem really lies, and we cannot have another year of this, we just can't. It's time to admit the mistake, cut losses, and move on.

Why is it so hard, Bob won 7 games with Zach just two years ago. I mean we know Bob did better also with shit QB and the worst OC in the NFL, and he wasn't any good. How did Sherwood, our team MVP look this year? How about all pro Quincy? Did McD take next step? Please. Let's stop with the excuses and acknowledge our coaching is atrocious. You can't blame this on the roster when Bob did way better with similar roster. And Bob is not some gold standard either, but he at least knows how to coach defense. I think we can do better. It's time to move on.

GDS? The whole point of derangement syndrome is if no matter what great things a person does, people are ignoring it and paint them as bad and still hate the person for no good reason. Are you serious right now telling me that Glenn is doing great things, and we still don't like him? We have been blown out by 21+ more times in a row than any team in NFL history. We have the worst point differential in December in NFL history. We are ranked historically bad in numerous metrics. What derangement syndrome are you talking about? What good things were done that we are painting as bad? Please, let's not bring up GDS when the guy gets blown out every game in the 1st quarter.
