so Darren Mougey, the inexperienced GM who spent his entire career in one place, Denver, is going to hire someone like that? Get real.. they don’t even know who he is
Never said that once but you do you champ. I've said multiple times the last 4 weeks have been unacceptable from a competitive POV. You've multiple times have equaled the jets roster to the patriots, again laughable. You clearly think players have a very minor role in this if you're willing to put your name on such a ridiculous statement. Bad team, fire coach.
So Dan Campbell is basically the only coach you can come up with since Bill Clinton was President that started off terribly and became a playoff coach? If you think the NFL is the same now as it was when Andy Reid started his career, you’re just being goofy.
Unless you're getting a surefire, proven upgrade to replace Glenn with then it's a hard no. No one gets fired after one season unless they're banging the owner's wife or maybe they get promoted for that too.
Klint Kubiak is 38 years old and has never had a HC job. I think he'd be open to the pay bump. The trick is that we need to sign him before he's a hot candidate and has better options. That's only possible if we act ASAP.
I never said it was the same, but why does it have to be? What in the modern nfl made it so if you suck year 1 you'll suck forever? You'll need explain to me that. Sorry back then had way more time and I researched for 10 minutes. Life is too busy I can't sit here and tell you more modern coaches that had a similar track record without extensive research. I pay attention to the jets and keep up with the league as best i can. If that disqualifies me from the conversion so be it, but regardless there are a lot of examples until we start making guardrails
Kubiak Jr. is probably the only guy from that list that even answers the phone from Darren Mougey, I’ll acknowledge that So then we have to pray that Kubiak Jr is a good head coach immediately so we don’t have to fire him too next offseason
I never said this once. Go ahead and look for yourself and make sure you post the phantom quote here. What I have said is that the Pats, Bears, and Jags all went from ~3-14 to ~12-5 in one year despite having mostly the same players they had before. They were able to improve so much in large part because they all significantly upgraded their coaches.
Then what the hell is your point? Who gives a flying F if new coaches came into significantly better rosters and they improved? Nobody is making this team competitive. Nobody.
Well, Kubiak is on the right side of the ball, has been a legitimately good coordinator unlike Glenn was, and we already have a strong indication Glenn is a bad coach, so I don't really see the downside to making a change. Woody's reputation is so bad that we're never going to get the established good coaches like Vrabel or the #1 new HC candidates like Johnson. Our only hope at landing a good coach is to take a shot before everyone else with a vacancy wants to take the same shot.
Can you read? I said all of the teams I listed have mostly the same players as last year, when they sucked. The difference for them this year is that they have much better coaches. This is like example 1000 of you legitimately not even reading the things people are typing.
Fuck off then I don't really care. If that's your point it matters absolutely 0. Teams with miles better rosters hired new head coaches and they improved. Fucking gasp. Comparing the patriots to the jets roster was actually more entertaining then your real point.
What kind of statement is that though? It happens pretty frequently. Jim Tomsula (San Francisco, 2015) Chip Kelly (San Francisco, 2016) Jerod Mayo (New England, 2024) Frank Reich (Carolina, 2023) Nathaniel Hackett (Denver, 2022) Steve Wilks (Arizona, 2018) Jim Mora (Seattle, 2009) Antonio Pierce (Las Vegas, 2024) Hue Jackson (Oakland, 2011) David Culley (Houston, 2021) Lovie Smith (Houston, 2022) Urban Meyer (Jacksonville, 2021) Mike Mularkey (Jacksonville, 2012) Freddie Kitchens (Cleveland, 2019) Rob Chudzinski (Cleveland, 2013) To be fair I guess Antonio Pierce was an interim for a couple games before retaining his job for a year.
Well recent history tells us that teams with first time coaches that win 3 games in a year, generally don’t go on to be successful coaches. Why? I’m not sure nor do I feel like pondering why but the lack of coaches that go on to be successful thereafter is telling.
If anything, Woody gives bad coaches and GMs way too long of a leash. Saleh and Douglas are exhibit A of this. Everyone knew Saleh should've been fired before last year but Woody didn't do it, which led to the embarrassing in-season rage-firing. Woody has a bad reputation because he hires idiots, knows nothing about football, and tends to mettle, not because he fires guys too quickly.
My only problem here is coaches coach for 20 plus years. If you can't go into the early 2000s or 90s you're severely limiting the pool on a question that requires obviously a large sample size. Nobody is saying 3 win first year coaches have this high probability to improve, but it does exist. This isn't your opinion I think, but you can't just fire a guy 1 year in either with 3 wins. 1 or 0, there's a discussion.. but the current state of this franchise i can't get there. I also can't deny the jets roster. It's the worst it has been in this 1.5 decade of sucking.
he hires idiots, meddles too much, doesn’t know anything about football AND fired Aaron Glenn after 1 year but he’s going to get the next one right Yeah… ok
At this point they are losing on purpose though. they have been starting an undrafted free agent at QB for the last month Glenn could’ve started Taylor, spilt the last 4 games then you’d have to make a list of 5 or 6 win coaches that became “good” and the list would be longer.
