5ft nothin....a hundred nothin pounds....hardly a shred of any athletic talent. yet...inline for a significant role as Jets WR.
im so down on this team that anytime i read someone has a good practice - i just think about how bad the other player they were going up against...
I was talking about Perriman that whole time, not Herndon. Not sure how I messed those up. Either way like I said dating back to college he has been dealing with injuries. I would say he is more injury prone than most NFL players over the last two years.
To me it’s vintage Jets luck. We had a first round talent fall to us at the end of the second round and he hurt himself before even stepping on the field in training camp and that’s during an offseason where they had no workouts and very little chemistry building opportunities. And he was going to take a little time to come along as it is… Completely eliminate the first half of his rookie season and he’s already even further behind the ball than he was. And sure this might happen to other teams too but how many other teams in the league have been completely void of skill position players like we have over the last decade? And how many of them continued to ignore skill position players until one fell into their laps? It couldn’t have accidentally worked out any better for us yet here we are…
Hes had injury problems w players in TC dating back to Miami, but their have been a ton of Jets TC under Bowles/Rex where Soft tissue injuries were excessive. So maybe its a bad combination melded into a perfect storm
It's not too much contact. The NFLPA and the league closely monitor and regulate how many contact practices in pads can occur and when. It sounds like to me that the Strength and Conditioning Dept. needs to be overhauled. It sounds like they're almost exclusively focusing on building strength and aerobic conditioning, but not working on flexibility and having players do lots of stretching. Yoga, Pilates, ballet all focus on stretching and staying limber, and building strength in that way. I remember teams (including the Jets) that included those regimens during the offseason and in TC and the number of soft tissue injuries decreased.
Gase is now causing players injuries.... That is hilarious. I understand he cant make adjustments, and his play calling sucks... But now the injuries are the coaches fault. Are we serious here? Regular season is not far away, any smart coach will now hold out his starters for minor injuries as a precaution. I know our Oline, WR really need as many reps as they can get, but no coach will play his starters right now. It's too risky and not worth losing a player for the regular season so they can play in practice.
