Good question. I'd like to avoid the Rangers. Although the Capitals have lost both meetings with Montreal this year so far. They play tomorrow, so we will see how they stand against them. I guess I would prefer Tampa Bay to jump Montreal and play them. All will be tough though.
Right. On the other end, I think if I was those top teams, I would want to avoid the Capitals in the 1st round. I would rather play the Red Wings, Penguins, Islanders or Bruins, than the Caps.
Montreal are massively overrated, average team with a goalie standing on his head. Look at their GF, SF/G and SA/G stats - they're not a great scoring team and they're not a great defensive team.
Amazing that San Jose will miss the playoffs. They won't even get their typical early exit. I think LA gets in, but just barely.
You come out with this shit every year, and every year it's still not true. The Caps are a really not scary team - they can play some good hockey and they have some firepower, but they don't roll deep and they're soft. Comical that you think that they're more dangerous than Boston or Pittsburgh.
Have you watched the 3 teams play this year? Comical if you think the Bruins or Pens are more dangerous. And I don't say that every year. Most years I feel the Caps are NOT playoff ready. This year they are though. My only worry is the overuse of Holtby this season.
I do. And Barry Trotz has brought a much more playoff-like hockey approach to DC. I am not saying they will win the Stanley Cup, but they are more playoff-ready than they have been in a long time. More importantly: it seems the players have bought in. Including Alexander Ovechkin. I have no problem if you would prefer to play the Caps over the Bruins or Penguins, but in my opinion, they will be a tough out.
No question. I was telling my Penguins fan friend that just yesterday. He is ready to give up on the season, I said you never know when those 2 will turn it on. I would never count them out, despite such poor play lately.
I haven't watched them closely enough myself to know much about their poor play lately, admittedly, but just commenting on yesterday's game, they straight up dominated the Flyers, dictated play and lost 4-1! That was just bad luck. They won't lose too many games playing like that
