A 3 man defensive line in a 3-4 defense will always always be a weakness against the run, 3 defensive lineman cannot do well against 5 offensive lineman. The idea behind a 3-4 is you bring up linebackers, cornerbacks and safetys in all different packages to shoot the holes and get to QB or backfield penetration. If you are not bringing any extra guys a 3 man defensive front will get run over by a decent 5 man offensive line. Now if the Jets went to a 4 man defensive line with Jenkins at left tackle and Pouha at right tackle, Ellis at one end and Devito at other end now thats a defensive line ! No one man can block Jenkins for long, he would break up alot of plays pass or run in the backfield before they ever got started.

The biggest weakness...or should I say question mark...is obviously Mark Sanchez.

Two worst moves in off season getting rid of Faneca, gettin rid of Jones. Healthy Jones still helps the team alot, Tomlinson very questionable. Jets had best OL in football last year, why change it ? Get rid of Schootheimer, trick football dont work, solid blocking and hard running wins games.

Go back and watch some film from last year...try the browns vs steelers. Then talk to me about B. Pool.

Thye author must be a BLOWFISH fan. He surely does not know much about the Jets. Eric Smith had a good season last year. Pool was enroute to a very good season prior to the concussion. Jim Leonhard played well in ALL phases of the game last year. Ihedigbo is a tough guy in the run game and hits anything that moves. Warren is talented and can man cover at safety, once he gets experience at the position. In college he was a cover corner.

Why some of these idiots have to dump on the Jets is really disgusting! GO JETS!

In his defense, the guy did this for the entire AFC East, so he had to come up with something.
Pats defense, Phins secondary,Bills QB (or just throw a dart at the depth chart and write about that).
I'm kinda glad that's the best he could come up with.

Man. That's just so lazy. At least Google "Brodney Pool" before you sit down to write this trash. It's such a lay-up to say "he gets concussions." Instead, this guy just makes up a knock on Pool.

The Ravens probably have a good idea of how good he is.

To be fair I dont think he really bashed Leonhard that much. He basically said Leonhard is a good player who knows the defense very well and is a leader on it, but he physically comes up short compared to other safeties in the league.

Hard to argue that when hes 5'8 185 pounds.

That said I think his point that if a safety gets injured, then wed have a serious hole in our defense. Again as anyone who remembers the Colts game saw, all it took was our 2nd corner to fail and our whole defense began to crumble.

Could anyone honestly say theyd feel 100% comfortable with our safety situation if say Jim Leonhard got injured ? I like Smith Idgehbo and Pool as much as the next guy, but you gotta admit that having the 3 of them as our only safeties (I doubt Warren starts next year) would be very risky.

Eric Smith knows the defense by now and could probably fill in for Jim Leonhard if the need arises.

I'm sorry, but if you base it on last season our biggest weakness is EASILY at QB. Sanchez needs to step up his game this year. I read this article while logged out yesterday and honestly thought it was a bleacher report article.

WTF does this mean? Hash to hash would be the middle of the field dick hole. Oh, and he can cover sideline to sideline? MAYBE Ed Reed in his prime could do that.

Everything else I see has been commented on already so I won't be redundant.
