Justin Herbert had fractured ribs and didnt miss any games. Im sorry but i am convinced this was zachs target game to return all along and this is a scape goat to put him back in. Honestly, the jets made the mistake of starting flacco over mike white the beginning of the season. I think at the end of the day Jet fans just want to know for sure who he is because of the limited showings its been the best QB play from a Jets QB since….2004?
No one here can make a definitive statement about his injury, but I always thought starting Flacco over White was stupid..... Just bringing back Flacco via trade was stupid in itself
Is it slightly ironic that the thing we bashed Zach about... refusal to stand in a collapsing pocket and make the throw... is the same thing that got White hurt and out of the line-up?
That wasn't that original tweet I saw. The one I saw blamed both hits on him: the first for the exact reason Douzable states and the second for holding the ball too long. I really don't feel like finding it but it was posted in this forum. In the end, it doesn't really matter. He got hit and hurt. End of story.
Both are right. Better pass Pro should have been designed, and MiLF and other offensive coaches are guilty of not doing this well. Miscommunications have definitely been part of the issue. And Leger is also correct: QB needs to be able to recognize the breakups too. White can't do that now - as simple as that. So, I think it is all of it, bad pass pro design, bad OLine, and yet lack of QB recognition that is causing a lot of these hits. Mike admitted that basically all he does is trusts protection and looks at his reads. Basically a statue. He does get rid of the ball fast, which helps the matters, but with this OLine he absorbs several massive hits a few times a game, which is not a recipe for success longer term. Both MiLF and White were asked about it, and the response was that there is a way to minimize impact via recognition and also movements within the pocket, but it takes time to learn, so it will be offseason project for White. For now, if Mike does play again, he can only make minor adjustments if any at all, but we will have to hope with that flak jacket that he will definitely wear going forward, he will not get injured in the few games we have left. Zach got hit hard quite a few times and he is looking at the first signs of possible pressure to bail. Kinda like seeing ghosts. A lot of times he can step in as he goes through reads and pocket is there, but he is too afraid. The key is to find that balance. That and a competent OLine that we do not have. Right now neither one of our QBs have that feel. When can you step in, when can you escape, and do all that at the same time as you are going through reads quickly. It's an art that they will need to master, and it is hard to practice without live bullets. Hopefully they can figure out some sort of simulation and get better at it during offseason.
I know i know, Twitter doctor but he’s normally pretty good when it comes to fantasy football and time missed for players after the injury has already been diagnosed.
I am pretty sure location and severity of injury are factors in return time. I don’t think that is a debatable issue.
Hopefully Santa brought Mike White a hyberbaric chamber, a flak jacket, some stem cells, and whatever they injected into Captain America...
"Should be good to go with decreased risk in contact." Like, literally: "Could be ok since injuries tend to heal over time."
