Mike White may not be the answer long term, but there is no reason why he can’t be the answer for a playoff push this year with our defense and where the standings are now. Make it to the dance and then see what happens.
We’ll would be hard for White to be worse…the bar is so fucking low let’s see, the bar is do better than 40% completion rate and 77 yards, and oh yeah, get lucky with two dropped picks seriously hard to imagine White being much worse Here’s what I really like though…it must have been a hard discussion for Saleh and JD to inactivate a QB who was the supposed savior and #2 overall pick. Despite how clearly it was obvious and was needed, I’m sure it was a hard discussion. But they made the right call. Having Zach succeed is still the best option for the team long term, and if this gives him the kick in the ass that turns his shit around then great. Hard to imagine it because we’ve been watching the exact same shit since day 1 with no meaningful improvement, but let’s hope that maybe it clicks. But here’s what I like even better…I can see no way that JD doesn’t address this next offseason. No way. He is not going into 2023 with this good a defense and only Zach and White as options. He will bring somebody in….I’m guessing a vet ready to play … Jimmy G makes a lot of sense if we can get a good contract there … but I see no way they don’t bring in legitimate competition or even outright starter and let Zach sit. I don’t see them cutting him, but maybe a trade or just let him sit…but I don’t expect the status quo.
I'm not expecting anything except HOPE. That's all he is. A stopgap for NOT fuking things up because Zaque didn't know how to just be average. Sad when you think about that. We only need avg and he couldn't do that... Keep it simple Mike.. Let's get it.
I expect that if the Jets brought in a vet starter they'd keep ZW and let him run the scout team. That's a surefire way to make sure he is getting a lot of observed throws each week and forced out of his comfort zone since he is asked to make the throws the opposing starter will make. The only way I see the Jets getting rid of ZW is if they draft another 1st round QB with the plan of putting him on the field from game 1. Then ZW becomes a distraction from the shiny new toy and probably a casualty of that. I would strongly recommend the Jets not draft another high pick QB until the offense is installed and has been running smoothly with a vet at the helm. It's a lot easier to work somebody in with a vet around than it is to just spew them out on the field and expect them to have "it". When you do that "it" is often a nervous breakdown.
At this point, glad to see everyone puts differences aside and roots like hell for Mike and for a total Jet team victory. Number one priority is to make the playoffs.
He plays on their tours... not a founding member. But hey... I'm pretty good friends with Johnny 2 Bags... have been for over twenty years. I've never seen Social D live...
And how does MLF factor into the Mike White decision/experiment/discussion? Will he be at fault if White doesn't get the job done?
JETS fans at the beginning of the season: JETS fans towards the end: JETS fans after another disappointing season:
Mike White is not the answer either there is a reason why he is a career backup, but atleast he doesn't think the turf is his best receiver like Zack does. If he can even be a average qb the jets can get to the playoffs run hot and win the superbowl. Zack wilson completion rate is 55% while Whites is 66% if White can mantain that rate the offense will be fine. The Jets are designed to dink and dunk but when your quarterback can't hit a 2 yard pass it kills all momentum.
