It's my opinion that you either HAVE a football IQ or you do NOT have a football IQ. You don't miraculously come into one.

Folks wanting to "see what he can do" in Chan's office is hoping to hide his weaknesses. Not my plan.

And I've NEVER suggested he be cut or traded. I want Mariota or Winston to sit a year and if Geno can hold down the fort for a year, great.

We get another top 6 pick.

He did not lead the team is what I said. That team was ago;ut the running game and the D. Mark threw some play action. But he sucked in most of the Pitt game.

Tampa sports radio listener here. I can guarantee that neither Sancho nor Geno would have taken as much flak in Tampa Bay. It's not like a major media market down here. Sure, they're here to sell cars and Viagra like every other metropolitan sports media outlet. However, the lack of competition for listeners and that southern gentlemanly style precludes a lot of the douchebaggery you get in New York.

I think you're wrong. If he gets the job next year, there will be a lot of members who think he shouldn't be starting including me, but I'm sure everyone will be rooting for him to succeed. Once the season starts, if you're a true Jets fan, you root for everyone who wears the green and white uniform to succeed. Criticism is not the same as wanting him to fail.

Geno sure as hell didn't do anything that knocked them out of the playoffs.

Geno played like shit all season long and even fucked us out of the 4th overall pick by playing the game of his life in a game they were better off losing.

    he's a loser's loser. Fuck him.

I'm not looking for a 4-12 next year. When that happens people end up getting fired. I think we should have won more games in 2014 and so did most of you going into the season. I'm strongly for signing a good vet Qb like Matt Moore. No Qb competition just give him the starting job and overpay him a little. With Geno as the backup. He plays if Moore gets injured or is ineffective. With a productive draft, a few other good FA signings like a corner and our present talent the Jets could be a very competitive team. They're not going to win the Super Bowl next year.

You can call it "southern gentlemanly style" if that makes you feel good, but calling a spade a spade is hardly douchebaggery. You're still entitled to your certificate for participation and a bag of carrot sticks and a yogurt.

Meanwhile, please let us know how those gentlemen in Georgia would refer to a professional quarterback's play who, when under pressure, would just seem to close his eyes and lunge blindly forward only to be brought to a dead stop by the posterior of one of his own linemen, losing possession of the football.

It seems you may be warped by the NY media. The voracity with which they dig for dirt (no pun intended on your spade comment, lol) and try to make the local players look bad doesn't exist like that outside of New York, especially not in Tampa. The point stands in it's own though. You can call it whatever you like.

I'm one of the big time GeNO bashers. I don't think he'll even be on the team by season end. Do I hope he turns into a Manning? As a long time Jet fan I hope and pray that he turns all our heads around and does. As a realistic Jet fan I say no way. I really think he lacks a pro QB mentality.

We'll see if he can do it with the new OC and receivers but a betting man wouldn't put money on it.

Geno Smith was a SECOND round pick who just happened to be the best QB on the roster over the past two seasons.

The media writes many a smug articles about his "football IQ" and that missed meeting crap was over the top.

I got to give him credit-After that Buffalo game EVERYONE was calling him the worst QB who ever took a snap. He responded nicely over the last four games.

I do not. Went to the gathering put together by GreenMachine the last time the jets played in Tampa. Royal T and a bunch of others went out after. It was a blast! I don't live in the area atm but I might if I can find work down there again.

Afa the censor, no eye deer. I just swyped it out and it worked. Maybe cause I'm on tapatalk?

The media has watched him turn a 7 yard sack into a 15+ yard sack over and over again over the last two years. How many times can you make the same dumb mistake and not have people question your football IQ?

You'd be surprised how many QB's do this. It's annoying to watch of course. But still.

He couldn't go backwards any faster unless he had that DeLorean from Back to the Future.

I see what the OP is saying. I don't think he's saying Geno doesn't deserve the critism I think he's speaking on the degree of negative critism he gets. No young or 2nd year QB gets killed like Geno does. I doubt if there hasn't been guys that dealt with worse but right now Geno gets the most shame. ESPN isn't constantly bashing EJ Manuel or Glennon, or Manziel or Locker for their shit shows, at least Geno can win a game. I think its a combo between Rex being his coach, and him being a Jet. Jets get bashed more then any team. media ALWAYS throws a shot at us in articles somehow some way. sanchez wouldve gotten the critism too had the team not been in the AFC chip twice
