Ok...and that proves, what exactly? Bridgewater may not look as good next year. A QB's play isn't always linear. And Smith looked pretty good the last quarter of the season too, you know, once the OL played better and the Jets actually had credible WR targets on the field most of the time. Look, I get it, you don't like Geno Smith and feel he wasn't as good as you would have liked. But to ignore the factors that influence his play--and how well or poorly most QBs play at that stage in their development--makes your opinion of him less reasonable.
Geno will have a shot to beat whom ever they Jets bring in via FA and the draft. New HC/OC - new system. He won't, but he will have the opportunity to prove, again, that he's not a starter. It's a level playing field now.

A reasonable opinion that somewhat separates yours from his most ardent detractors, who ARE hoping he fails if for no other reason than they've invested so much animus on him. Smith's first season wasn't so much "he hasn't had great talent to play with..." as much as having "arguably the worst talent in the NFL, both on the OL and at the receiver positions." But, no, that doesn't excuse bonehead plays, it just adds to the opportunity to make them. What is critical is for Smith to eliminate the unforced errors, which would come from maturity. If he can do that, and there's no guarantee he can, Smith can become an above-average QB, assuming there is sustained improvement in the play and caliber of his supporting cast.
Show me your "facts" or "evidence" of a shittier QB who turned out elite. I mean not Blaine Gabbert Elite. _
