Nobody in the NFL tanks a season on purpose ,stupidest argument I've ever heard,Idzik just isn't a good GM.What if Woody says no and he wants to keep Rex Idzik would look like a dickhead.Woody doesn't like to waste money I could see him keeping Rex as a lame duck instead of having to pay him for being somewhere else.I honestly think Idzik just thought he was the smartest guy in the room and he's learning the hard way
I say we just keep rolling over until we have $500 million in the 2020 offseason. Fuck the cap rules. We should be allowed to do whatever we want with the rosters we've been fielding.
I would sign Dez Bryant, huge risk but the guy is top 5 in the league. He is an incredible player, a headcase, but I cant see Dallas losing (although I dont know their cap situation but they usually are very close so they might lose him).
That's quite an unsubstantiated claim. "Almost as bad" in what way? In terms of on-the-field play? Of course it's bad. Financially? It's the opposite bad.
say whatever you want about Idzik's handling of 2014, but the cap space we have going forward is one HELL of a silver lining. not sure who's gonna be available or who's gonna get locked up and all that, but man oh man if we actually get the best wide receiver in free agency (AGAIN) it will have been proof positive that the system JI has going works. thinking for tomorrow has its advantages. We'll ALL have to wait and see, but something tells me we wind up better with this course than if we invested more heavily this year. Its not all that bad when the worse thing your GM does is give you a great chance to strike HUGE in the immediate future.
Our O line is suspect at the best of times. IMO they have a lot to do with that shitfest we witnessed, yet no one is calling them out. Hmmm
Johnson wants nothing to do with Revis. He made that clear this off-season, when he had a chance to re-sign him and didn't. The idea rhat Idzik "tanked" this season is the most riduculous thing I've ever heard. I think you are living in a fantasy football world.
yeah the Revis bridge is good and burnt, unless he wants to play for a fraction of his original cost, I doubt we see him in green and white ever again. and, you're right again, JI didn't tank the season, thats bullshit, why would he do that? If he didn't like rex he could have just fired rex, the fact that money wasn't spent has EVERYTHING to do with JI's need to save money for later and NOTHING to do with who his head coach is. not saying it isn't a flawed model, but there ain't no sabotage, conspiracies that ignore occum's razor like that are just laughable.
It's simple. Last year we overachieved and that gave JI a false sense of sercurity about the shape of this team. Net points we were like -90. That's garbage. Combine that with an awful draft and some injuries and we are where we should be. JI didn't try to tank this season. He just doesn't know what the fuck he is doing. He's a young GM. If we get lucky/ not have bs calls go against in the GB and Chi game plus a healthy decker we are 2-3 and this tanking the season thread doesn't exist.
What if Idzik is targeting Darrel Bevell after the season? If so, it would make SOME sense that he tanked this season (although he'd be dumb to admit it).
I just LOVE all this bullshit talk about paying this FA or that FA...pffft.... I can think of four or five teams that have tried to buy their way to a Super Bowl and absolutely 100% of them have failed. Between Dan Snyder and Jerry Jones this is their standard mode of operation. The draft was and always still/will be the best way to build to the big one. Sad to say, so far, Idzik has shown me NOTHING! 12 picks and shit... Jesus you'd think we would have at LEAST 4 or 5 of them look above average.... Oh well...it is all moot...with no decent QB we're screwed anyway....
I'm still confused as to why we're so sure this draft class is shit. Did we honestly think we were getting 12 INSTANT studs or something? and since when has patience for rookies been outlawed? the injury bug plays a part too, we aren't even SEEING two of our higher picks out there, we really can't make any calls on this draft class until AT LEAST next year.
Mike Tannenbaum says hello and wonders if you have anyone he can take off your hands for a first-round draft pick. A tight end, maybe?
Every year lately it's "next year." Why even watch football? The draft isn't supposed to be the most exciting time of the year.
Agreed, you wait all year for the season to start and within 4 weeks it's over. Makes me wonder if it's worth it.
