No, they are saying that they won't atleast a 4th rounder, now its a 7th rounder and this is suppose to be the hold up.

    Skins might release Ramsey

Some teams now believe that with the addition of Collins, the Redskins are more likely to have to release Ramsey, according to a source, because teams will be reluctant to offer much for him, knowing Washington has a glut of quarterbacks. The Redskins would save $1.7 million in salary cap space by cutting or trading Ramsey, and have about $11 million in 2006 salary cap space already devoted to the position.

Ramsey had been in contact with Miami and the New York Jets, but hasn't received overwhelming interest because of a crowded market at quarterback as well as his decreased playing time in Washington over the last two seasons. The Redskins granted Ramsey's agent, Jimmy Sexton, permission to seek a trade weeks ago. The Jets inquired about Ramsey when starting quarterback Chad Pennington was injured early in 2005. Ramsey visited the Jets last week, but the sides have been unable to agree on a deal

Arrington and the Skins parted ways roughly a week ago.

Anyway, before the Saints took themselves out of the Leinart scenario I was more than fine with trading one of our 4th rounders for Ramsey. Based on the new info that has come to light however, I wouldn't give up more than a 7th rounder for him.

    Here's why.......

I stand by everything I've said in the past (not that anyone remembers). Ramsey has the talent to turn his career around IMO. He's young, tough, and I would not be surprised AT ALL if he went elsewhere and put up respectable/good numbers.

No one here can convince me that any QB coming out of this draft will have a better career than Patrick Ramsey when all is said and done....EXCEPT Matt Lienart.

I've been openly against us trading up in this draft, however, here are two scenarios that I would absolutely love....

#1. We trade Abe for at least a first rounder (would prefer an additional pick as well, but I'll survive with just a first), and trade up to grab Lienart. This way we can get our potential franchise QB, and still be able to address other needs fairly early.

#2. We trade Abe to Atl for Schaub (who has a huge upside, regardless of how goofy he looks) and a pick (ideally no lower than a 3rd). Then trade down from the #4 spot. Again, we potentially get our franchise QB, and can address a plethora of other needs on day 1.

I say "potentially get our franchise QB" because obviosly there is no way to guarentee we'll hit a homerun with either guy.

While I'd be happy with either scenario, right now I'm leaning more towards option#2. I like the idea of aquiring a bunch of day 1 picks, plus a 24-year old 6-5 QB with some NFL experience (who Atlanta is apparently EXTREMELY high on).

I love the fact that Mike T and EM are playing hardball. I'm liking this regime more and more each day. Lets hope they stick to their guns and don't crumble.

If Bradway were put in this position, I have no doubt he would have traded Abe for Atlanta's 3rd rounder and then traded that pick away for Ramsey.

If Culter's arm were on Leinart's body Your idea #1 would be possibly worth doing. Leinart's arm is pretty good, but not great. He would be more of a timing type of passer. I personally think he would struggle a bit in the winds of November and December.

Idea #2 is fine. I don't care what the guy looks like, if he is/or prooves to be a very good QB, that is all that matters. The guy could have a face like Quasimoto; if he was throwing bullets and making touchdowns while keeping int's to a minimum, he would be loved in NY.

I lean your way on #2, too. While there is one last scenario: We just go with what we have. Take what falls to us at the #4 pick and move forward from there.

Put Cutler's arm on Leinart's body and you've got yourself one hell of a QB my friend!

I'm not worried about Lienart's arm. It's stronger than Pennington's, and Chad was pretty successful at the Meadowlands (when healthy). IMO, I would rather have a QB with Lienart's head on his shoulders than a QB with Cutler's arm strength.

I thought about putting that third scenario up as well, but to me that seems highly unlikely (unless we DO trade for Ramsey).
