If we're able to somehow pull off a win against Miami we'll be 4-4 at the break with a chance to go 8-8 and maybe sneak in as a 6th seed if the loser of San Diego/Denver falls to 8-8 and we win a tie-breaker, making the 12/23 game important if we were able to get that close. However, if we lose to Miami in two weeks we'll be 3-5 and dead in the water. Basically, if we're not 4-4 at the Bye, it's time to start looking ahead to March and April.
If we're 4-4 at the bye we're still on track for 8-8. If we're 3-5 it's going to be a rough second half. If we're 2-6 you can put out the lights and we'll all settle back and start wondering what the next Jets window is going to look like when the trash has been swept away in the next off-season or two. Things go to ruin in a predictable pattern. One that we've seen twice now under Woody.
Seattle and Arizona have been really good in the pass rush department(both top 5 in NFL for sacks and pressures). If these teams continue this path, it's going to be a long day in Seattle and when Arizona comes to town.
Crazy that there is still hope on the forum for a 9-7 season. The Jets are fated to be below .500 this season- too many pieces are missing.
Agreed. 4-4 is the threshold. If we meet it, the season is still alive, if not its all academic after that.
There are 11 games remaining, I'm holding out to the bye to see what this team has. 4-4 at the bye, it's not unreasonable to think we can go 5-3
Don't underestimate the power of a franchise QB in Andrew Luck. No doubt yall will stomp the Jags. You could play your second string and still win handedly.
The problem with analyzing the schedule now is that I do expect Tebow to come in soon (probably tomorrow), and he's an x factor - whether it's for good or bad we won't know until it happens though. That said, I don't expect to beat the Pats 'at all'. And I do expect to somehow get trolled by the Rams and Schotty, that kind of s*** always seems to happen to us...it'll probably be a slop game too, 13-9ish. I also think the trip to Seattle'll probably go about as well as the last one did minus the snow/Holmgren lovefest. We never do well out west anyway unless it's San Diego. The most winnable games are probably the Cards, Jags and Chargers imo.
Or they'll multiply tenfold if he somehow makes another miracle run to the playoffs with 10-7 games. Hell, if that happens I'll start to believe in Jesus
