I think they did recognize that, thus they rebuilt the O-line and came back to camp with Chad this year. When Favre became available for a draft pick I think they became enamored with him and made the move at that time. If they didn't like Chad they would have replaced him well before August 7, they had eight months and didn't do it.
I wouldn't call MVP type of year as luck. Maybe 1 6 TD game is luck, but not entire year's performance. And he held up just fine behind Miami OL. Some intellectual honestly please. Chad proved this year we made a mistake of disastrous proportions. Letting go a guy who is MVP runner-up, #2 rated QB in entire NFL. And has many years left in him unlike his replacement, who ruined our season with numerous picks in last 5 games. To top that off, the guy comes to Meadowlands on the last game of the season, and completely outplays Farve to kick our behinds on the road, clinching division title. And after all this, there are still some delusional fans, who have enough audacity to say we made the right move. You gotta have some intellectual honesty and admit this obvious mistake that Woody made, setting back this franchise for years to come.
If they recognized we had a good QB on our roster, they won't have outright released him to a division rival. Look, Woody messed up here big time. I don't know what more had to happen this year for people to see that.
True. I think they did that as a gesture to Chad, plus they had no choice after making the move for Favre. I give them credit for trying to improve the team, although I was against it. Not a knock on Chad, but even with him in Miami nobody saw them as a threat, and there was no way the Pats or Bills looked like they needed him.
I just keep reminding myself that Chad was not having a great training camp...but I did really love having him as our QB
If Woody/Tanny did not see that Miami and Parcells could have snatched him, they are even bigger idiots than I thought, which is saying something. We put all our eggs in Favre's basket. They didn't even try to restructure Penny's contract, nothing. Not even trade him out of divison or conference. When you have a good asset on your hands, you don't just give it away, especially when the guy who drafted him does not have a good QB and is in the same division. And I am sure Penny would take a pay cut to stay. He did it before. Like Mangini, he was loyal to Jets. And our imbecile owner finds ways to get hard working talented and loyal people out of this organization. Pennington/Mangini are Parcells/Belichik guys. These are the type of people these two HOF coaches wanted around. And Woody kicks them to the curb. Also, indirectly that resulted in Cowher not even considering Jets offer.
Usually when someone is talking about someone, then someone yells something at them angrily, and the person who was yelled at responds talking about the person they were just talking about, it's actually not considered all that random, BTW this is also a chad love thread. And let me just say if you were talking, you would have been yelling.
1st of all 1/4 of Chad`s TD`s were on trick plays. His 3 long passes against us were under thrown, the wr`s had to make ajustments! Chad`s done what he`s always done-manage games without turning the ball over. IT`S TIME TO MOVE ON PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chad is a classy guy but you would be pullin your hair out if you went through another season with chad throwing ducks and pick6's. Woody is an idiot though.
