oh really? was Schotty fired? did i miss something......

Rex Ryan isn't going to install a brand new offensive playbook.

Kerry is garbage.....and if Vince Young wasn't such a no-talent headcase, Kerry would still be carrying a clipboard and a cocktail on the sidelines.

Roethlisberger's 4.76 is nearly identicaly to Chad's and I don't think anyone would say Chad is equally as mobile as Big Ben. 40 yard dash is an awful indicator for anything for a QB.

A QB competition is a lot better than just handing the job to Clemens based on the fact he was drafted high a few years ago. With the exception of 2 or 3 isolated drives he's looked awful in his pro action...some of it can be excused by the terrible O-line play in front of him, but he seemed to have painfully little pocket presence and trouble making snap decisions.

He's gonna need to be much better than he's ever shown before if the Jets are gonna have a chance to get over .500 with Clemens as a starter.

The reason Favre was brought in was because the Jets front office felt that Clemens did not have it. If they felt that Clemens was progressing in the offense then they would never have made the move for Favre. It is obvious that the Jets have no confidence in Clemens.

First off, kid? Don't flatter yourself.

Secondly, why are you the ONLY one still bringing up Pennington in this discussion? No one else is discussing him anymore but you.

    Here, I'll help you out.

The point you're trying to make is that Clemens is a mobile QB.

Which he is not. The fact is he is at the bottom of the barrell in terms of speed, quickness, and agility among NFL quarterbacks.

Talking accuracy, even as a pocket passer he couldn't hit a bus stuck in traffic.

So since ESPN says it is so, they must have given up on Clemens?

Did the new staff give up already? Before OTAs?

It was obvious when they brought in Favre. Clemens was already here.

Flatter myself? I thought i was flattering you
you have no clue what point i was trying to make......and really, all you're doing is making a total ass out of yourself....and i'm enjoying that with each retarded post you drum up.

The fact that you posted this makes me think you couldn't tell the difference between a Quarterback and a Third Basemen.

That's a unique situation tho, you're talking about a HOF QB coming off a great season. And it wasn't like we had to give up a first, it was a conditional 4th

As good as we thought Clemens was, the prospect of bringing in Favre (at the time) is too good to pass up. Granted it didn't work out the way we wanted, for 11 games it did

So you are convinced that is the reason they bought Favre in?

How do you know if Woody just forced Favre on the staff?

I think Schefter is the fucking man when it comes to 'round the league rumors and tidbits, but how does he know Clemens will get the QB starting job when the season rolls around? It's not like OTA's have begun, let alone TC. I don't know what Clemens has shown in the last week or two to decisively convince anybody that he's the clear cut starting QB for next year.

It might just be Schefter stating the wide-known fact that he will be our starting guy right now because he's the #2 guy in the depth chart. Otherwise, it sounds to me like like Schefter is just speculating or he's got some insight into the Jets plan for the Draft and FA that we just don't know.

Incorrect. Favre was brought in because he's Favre. That and the PSL thing.

Fair point. I would also like to hear more about what Schefter actually knows on this. But I do think the quote above was more than a reference to where Clemens presently is on the depth chart.

We can sit here and trade insults all day, but I'll be the bigger man. Anyone can sit behind an anonymous forum name and take jabs at others.

The fact is this: no matter how you spin it, Clemens is one of "Mangini's Guys" and I can almost guarantee he will not be your starter in 2009.

I'm a Jets fan. I want to see them win and want what's best for the team. If Clemens has a good offseason and turns out to be something special, you know what? I'll be the first one on here congratulating the kid and admitting I was wrong. But I've been around this game a long enough time to have developed a pretty keen eye for talent, and as of right now I do not see KC as starting material.

Favre was brought in because there was hope that Clemens would have developed and be able to take Pennington's spot. He couldn't and so instead of the front office going into the season with the same ol same ol, they decided to tried to bring in something that they felt they would need. A TALENTED QuaterBack

I'm not here to trade insults either....but i also know when someone is talking out of their ass...which you have done in this thread. Especially your "40 times" argument....that was epic.

the fact you just posted you have a "keen eye" for talent....just proves my point.

That's not true at all. They obviously must have thought Pennington didn't have "it" either because he was here too. They brought in Favre because he was available and we wanted the best chance to win a Super Bowl. This had little to do with Clemens. We weren't the only team that wanted a HOF QB on our team. He didn't work out they way it was planned tho
