We need someone with a rocket arm,

Like Josh Freeman, he should still on the board at #17.

And Let Clemens do his thing this year.

Then we can spend all the cap money on the "D".

Are you saying there was still a competition going on after the season started?

See, your argument just sucks. You are implying that any QB competition we have will last into the regular season. No HC with any reasonable desire to compete would allow that to happen.

I'm not saying this was a continuation of a QB competition, but wasn't there a point when the Cards took Leinart out of the game, then put Warner in, and vice-versa at different times DURING a game? To everyone's surprised they had a successful run during this stretch and continued doing it for some time.

Not sure if you would still consider that a competition going on AFTER the season started, but it sure pissed Matt Leinart off.

I always had a feeling that not aggressively pursuing Joe Flacco might come back to haunt us big time. I know we had other needs, but Gholston was clearly a miscalculation.

And it's not like we didn't have ample QB warning earlier even than last year. Pennington was faltering even as Cutler came out, so we knew we needed a franchise QB going back that far at least.

Now we are where we are, still looking around at everybody else's used merchandise and still no young, legitimate franchise QB in sight.

Actually..this is what you were saying:

I never once said that Warner was either Clemens/Ratliff...I simply proved your point about having a QB competition will set the starting QB back 3 to 4 weeks is totally bogus.

    BTW ....it's "Kurt"...not "Curt"....k, Dawn?

My prediction, once again: Kellen Clemens will not be in the NFL following the pre-season. He will be cut by the Jets. I'm looking for Ratliff to shine and the Jets drafting up to pick one of the QB draft stars. Also wouldn't mind bringing in Chris Simms.

I hope we let the young qbs battle it out. Clemens never had a chance that is for sure, Ratliff looked good and has the size and the arm, and Ainge has very respectable numbers and great size. I don't understand why you guys want another veteran so much. I want a qb for years to come not just next year or until he gets hurt. We have a good O-line, a good running game and hopefully a solid D. This is the year you can take that chance with someone young (Ravens last year)- hopefully Rex will see how productive a team could be last year with a young QB and will try to do the same here. I really can not understand why you guys must bring someone in when you don't even really know what you have already.

There was no QB comp in AZ. Leinart was outright benched after given every opportunity to start.

No matter who the Jets QB is, he will have my 100% support.

They had a competition that Warner begged to have during TC last year.

I'd like to give Clemens the reigns this season....to give him a chance behind a solid oline...and see what he brings to the table. One of my main concerns regarding Clemens is that in TC last season, he showed signs of regression. I'm hoping that isn't the case this season, but that must weighing in the back of the FO's minds.

I wouldn't give Clemens the reigns. I'd give him the boot, and that's what the Jets will do following pre-season. He will not be a Jet, and no team will sign him.

Let's Clear This Up Right Here And Now

There is only one good QB coming out next season. The idea of next years crop of QBs being better than this years is mistaken. Besides Bradford, there is no one else, and unless you plan on losing all your games like the DETROIT LIONS, then the chances of us having the number one pick won't happen either.

The Jets best case scenario is to pick up Kerry Collins in FA, and draft Freeman since Sanchez and Stafford will be gone by the time we pick.
Kerry Collins is perfect for us. He has the arm and he can manage the game. This is the perfect scenario while Freeman can take a year to learn the system.

Not true Leinart has been handed the job by two different coaches, he got one fired and the other one benched him. QB competitions are for teams going nowhere

To be honest, Clemens looks bad. I just don't see him as an NFL QB.
I can be proven wrong, but from what I see, I see a guy who reminds me of Pennington, but he does not have the cerebral capability that Pennington had to at least succeed on some kind of level in the NFL.
