JD has had 7 firsts and 5 seconds. Out of that bonaza of 12 picks he's hit on 4: AVT Sauce Garrett Hall The thing is 3 of the 4 (AVT, Sauce, Hall) were the top prospect at their position. And Garrett was close. Its not like he is some talent guru finding us gold. And his QB selections (Morgan, Wilson) have been a joke. He hasn't found us one impact player outside of the top 40. MC2 and Clemmons is as close as he's gotten. Without the Jamal Adams trade which provided half of his good picks (Garrett, AVT) he'd be a joke. You cant build a team that way.
I didn't even think of that. It amazes me how people defend him on this board. Then they say it's not him, it's the coaching staff, he did his job giving them the talent. Well, who hired the coach? I would love for him to succeed and win, I just don't see it happening with what he has BUILT in NY.
You agree with ZACH'S assessment? Which one? How about his assessment last year when he passed for a TOTAL of 77 against the Pats, and then maintained in the press conference that he did NOT let the defense down. (No,no). Sean Payton just called out Russell Wilson for his poor play in the Broncos two losses. Guys like you and Saleh aren't helping Zach or the jets by constantly making excuses for him, claiming he "sees the field well" , and we should "forget Zach's stats." Not surprised you want me to forget Zach's stats. Wasted draft pick by Douglas. One of many.
Some will never be able to address content and will always fall back on name calling; that's certainly not unique to this thread. It would be nice if everyone could get beyond that. And it's not whining simply because you may disagree with the message. Everything on topic is fair game - the good, the bad and the ugly.
What I saw in that game was that the team was not ready to play. All the game planning and preparation on Monday nights game counted on Rogers being the QB. Zack once again gets thrown into the wolves without many reps with the 1’s. Team has to travel to Dallas, get in some minimal practice, then onto the hostile stadium all in less than a weeks time. Zack and the team were not prepared. That is on the coach’s.
Sorry my friend. You haven't been around long enough to know what a "huge draft bust" is. Only of those guys you mentioned is not an NFL starter and last year's offensive and defensive rookies of the year - not to mention Breece Hall who would have won it over Garrett Wilson, absolutely tips the scale in JD's favor.
It does more than highlight the problem, it pretty much IS the problem. You can't build a team around one guy when that one guy is approaching 40 and is going to be playing behind the worst O-line n the league. Zach absorbed several hard shots against Dallas, and he can at least move a little bit. If we hadn't lost Rodgers for the season against the Bills, we very well might have against Dallas the way the O-line played. Next season is going to be even uglier if the O-line isn't completely overhauled. A 40-41 year old QB who will be most likely even further limited in mobility due to an achilles injury behind this O-line will most likely end just about the way you'd think it would unless, of course, you're Joe Douglas and you look at that combo and somehow see a Lombardi Trophy.
They like him because joe Douglas looks like one of us. Period. Folksy, he’s more likely to wear a hoodie than a suit. He looks like a dude who would come over for the game with a plate of bacon wrapped jalapeños results wise he’s just as shitty, if not worse than the suits types. This is gonna be his 5th year without a playoff appearance. Joe Douglas has accomplished nothing but losing seasons. Fact
how is someone ranked at the bottom of the cesspool in every major category 3 seasons straight now, who was taken 2nd overall not considered a huge bust. Zack has played as bad as Rosen and Jamarcus Russell and they were huge busts right?
only difference is Arizona was smart enough to realize Rosen stunk early, Jets are 2 years late to the party and counting Josh rosen 1st year stats GP CMP ATT CMP% YDS AVG TD INT 14 217 393 55.2 2,278 5.8 11 14 Zach Wilsons 1st year stats CMP% 55.6 Completions percentage YDS 2,334 Passing yards TD 9 INT 11
Zach's performance has only been marginally better than Rosen's, and Zach was taken with the 2nd pick as opposed to the 10th. So if anything, Zach is the bigger bust, which is being compounded by the fact that the Jets keep putting him out there instead of cutting their losses like the Cardinals did.
It’s his 5th season, and we have won a total of 4 divisional games, 2 of which were against backup QBs. 4-21. He has yet to beat the Patriots. The QB decisions between Wilson, James Morgan, Joe Flacco, avoiding competition, have been terrible. Lots of strategic errors all around. He has one tremendous draft to his credit as well. So there’s some good and some bad. But I can’t think of any GM ever getting this much fan leeway with such terrible results. How he responds to this QB situation, as well as how this years crop of FA and draft picks pan out, will be telling for his future imo. He needs some receipts before any extension can be considered.
It's funny - you listen to fans of other teams or general commentators (aka people not blinded by homerism), and they think it's hilarious that our "rebuild" has taken so long. Meanwhile our fans act like JD has done a great job and just needs more time (lol). Rebuilding quickly is the norm in the NFL, not the exception. Teams go from last to first all the time. The league is designed for parity because it's good for the product. Rebuilds don't take as long as ours, which means ours hasn't been a rebuild, but a failure. We just hoped Rodgers would mask the failure for a couple years.
I think even the jets PLAYERS, deep down, think Zach sucks. Garrett Wilson was SO excited last year about the change to Mike White. Saleh and Douglas refuse to see/acknowledge the obvious, will start Zach, so the jets will likely occupy the basement of the AFC East at the end of the season. Even then, I bet Douglas brings Zach back next year (final year of Zach's contract) as Rodgers' 2024 backup. Dumb shit.
