I'm still trying to figure out who all these weapons are on offense. I count exactly two weapons on offense and the offensive coordinator has yet to prove that he knows how to use them properly. This draft needs to be all about the O, the D is ready to compete at a high level. The O is not even close and on paper is probably in the bottom 5 of the entire league.
Actually it wasn't for no reason. You called anyone who doesn't think we're in good shape dumb and that we should not be worried about the offense. Is that correct or and i so "dumb" i am incapable of reading the thread title correctly? My argument holds substance and i do not believe i am wrong and a lot of other posters seem to feel the same way as i do. Perhaps we are simply agitated because you call us dumb yet you feel turning a blind eye to our lack of offense if going to make it any better. Now, i never said jones was "fucking amazing" however, he was solid this season. Over 1300 yrds with 15 total tds seems to be pretty fucking consistant to me. And you can throw the whole stats can be deceiving shit at me all you want but this isn't a fucking qb we're talking about. If mangini doesn't abandon the running game after the titans game jones could have easily had 1500 yrds. I never said we need a "big flashy burner" but a proven wr to play opposite Cotchery whom teams would pay a little more attention to would benefit us. To imply a wr has speed is stupid, of course a wr has speed, they're a fucking wr. However, cotchery is not a wr a corner is afraid to press because he's afraid of getting burned, hes not that fast comparing him to other nfl receivers. We have a qb starting whom we have no idea if they are a legit starter correct? we have a wr (cotchery) whom we don't know if he can be a legit #1 correct? and the guys playing across from him are who? clowney and stuckey. Yeah Clowney had a good preseason catching 2 long bombs, does that make him the #2? Cotchery struggled when coles struggled, so why would anyone think he would play better without coles or a legit starter here? Yes we are going to be a run first offense, but how effective will our running game be because teams do not have a wr they need to pay a little more attention to and can put an extra man in the box? can we do well with what we have on offense now? perhaps. However, given this teams history, anyone who is not concerned with the way the offense looks as of today is just ignorant. Now, go read a book.
Its pretty unbelievable that this offense will drop to bottom 5 without the presence of a high profile QB like Favre or anyone else, but its the truth... fuckin sucks.
I was dumb enough to think we had a shot at a SB after we beat NE and TN were 8 and 3 and had Brett freakin Favre as our QB. Turned out we were not only not a contender but we sucked in almost ever facet of the game in the month of December. Good thread and good OP with the exception of the title.
Don't get mad bro, you need to relax, your the only person that seemed so offended by my thread title, no one else gave a shit they came on and gave their opinions. This was a "dont worry too much boys and girl, the jets will be ok, and fuck all these analysts talking wr and qb all day, those are the dumb people" thread. Now is that clear enough for you, dont take this like its a personal attack man grow up, we have no real options for this offense right now, we could of took warner, but we didnt, we coulda nabbed TO, but we didnt. Farve and his interceptions were wonderful by the way, coles was pretty aweful the first half of the season because he is a little girl, and on top of it coles doesnt get double teamed, he's small and over the fuckin hill and an asshole who didnt really give a shit, but your telling me about how good our running game was? We have no choice, there is no one available in fa that seems worth the time and money to bring in, and drafting a qb wont change anything either, it'll just be another unproven player but it cost us money, and the same with wr, maybe if the jets wanna grab a vet like harrison or holt that would be nice, but they could get injured because they are old. Drafting a reciever is like drafting a qb, it just brings another unproven player in and less money for the team. The team had chances to bring in names, but Ryan feels confident with what they have, if it blows up in his face well shit, what are we going to do, have a season without a sb ring like the other 30 teams in the leauge that wont be winning a goddamn superbowl. Hey guess what last season we werent a run first team, we actually were pretty down the middle untill late in the season. Jones is getting older and guess what he's going to be getting even more carries then 20 a game, sure LW is going to get carries, but he is drastically important to our ST and he can be put out on a route and catch passes, Jones will take the work load great, fuckin great, i wish i could be wrong i really do, im getting tired of writing this fuckin post, your killing me here from killing you with my amazingness, anyway if I am wrong, and we do draft a wr and he turns out to be the second jerry rice in his first year and fuckin clemens or ratliff make the pro bowl and complete 90% of their passes then oh man I will be so happy, because the only thing I care about more then anything is my fucking jets winning games. Anyway if we draft a qb or wr or both, clemens/ratliff is still the starter and cotch is still our number 1, so we are going to see these guys all try and prove themselves next year whether we like it or not and whether we draft sanchez or if crabtree plummets down to us. These are my opinions, if you dont like them then deal with it as I will have to unfortunatly have to deal with your attitude, I have so much more shit to throw at your face, but baby I'm tired. Peace in the middle east bitches!!!! GO JETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :jets::jets::jets::jets::jets:
We also ran when we should have passed, passed when we should have ran with horrible game plans, had a QB with a bad wing for the last 5 games, that couldn't be benched and had shackles on our previously innovative OC.... Facing a team like Oakland without an empty backfield for much of the 1st half ALONE would do wonders... We also have a QB that has worked in the system and won't have to rework the entire offense on the fly as the season approaches... We also pretty much ignored the best play maker on the team - GIVE LEON THE BALL - More Keller - Clowney deserves a lot more action - plus Cotchery and Stuckey.. And we still have the draft!!!! I've been as Dark as the Darkest Darksider at times but, Damn, call be pretty Optimistic right now, I think people are getting way too worked up over the offense... And Worst case - In year ONE of Rex - You build a top defense, continue to stress the running game and OL and SEE WHAT YOU HAVE AT QB /WR.... At some point you can't just add FA's all over the place, you need to see what you have and make that change next year IF NEED BE.....
How many years do we sit back and say "lets see what we have" Without a passing threat, how do you expect to have a successful running game, with our line? While it is pretty damn good, I highly doubt TJ would have had the yards he had last year without Favre chucking the rock, regardless of how poorly he was playing. When Favre is back there you bring automatic respect for the deep ball, and it keeps opposing Ds from stacking the box. Pretty simple stuff here. Keller needs more than 3 fabulous games to be considered "fuckin killer" We DO need a QB. Have you seen Clemens play? Who cares that the line sucked, he couldn't even beat out noodle arm in TC on any year. So who will be this magician to come out and get the ball to all of our receivers, who on any other team would be #2 and 3 receivers? Oh right, lets wait until next year. We've already said that 40 times, what's 1 more....then 2 more....then 3 more. Before you know it, we'll be saying "hey it's been 80 years...whats one more year" And lastly, that avatar puts the icing on the cake for this thread. Franks and beans.
How about we give Rex at least ONE? Clemens never got a proper chance.. The thing that people are missing is that if ANYONE knows what Clemens can do and if he can do it, It's Schottenheimer - That guy holds all the cards - That's why it was so important to retain him.. He's seen the guy in practice - He knows what's going on in Clemen's head... He knows what went wrong around him when he last played significant time.... He knows what Clemens has grasped from the innovative things they did with Chad in year 1 - The hurry up, the line changes, etc etc... Schott is the KEY MASTER!!! if this guy thought Clemens / Ratliff were bums, the NY Jets would be going balls to the wall trying to sign a QB.... But, yeah, sometimes you need to give a guy a season to see what he's got - and QB is one position where you need to do it... Even if they draft a QB, not much has changed... It's still wait and see.. And Hope.
This being a Jets board, a great deal of the purpose of it is to analyze the team to death. Honestly? The Jets always find a way to defy analysis, am I rigggggggght. It's almost pointless to try. Primed to win, primed to lose, how much has any of it ever really affected anything? For real? I've come to the conclusion that the Jets are going to astound us and do something great or not surpise us and do something awful completely independent of how the team is constituted or who the Coach is. The Jets will win it all again someday or bite the dust for all eternity through random chaos. That may not be the case with other teams, but it is with us. Prove me wrong; and it isn't going to change unless the earth breaks off its axis. Just who would be in a position to care about football then, anyway, I ask you? I think I'll stick to my usual with this organization. Spin around three times and hope for the best.
Certainly not in his 1st year..... He was one of the more sort after HC candidates for a reason. IMO Mangini shut him down.... I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. Again.
I count three assuming they do not put Jones and Leon out there at the same time - RB, Cotch and Keller. But Cotch will be invisible without balance at wideout. A burner is the O's top priority, it will help open up the running game, and the Jets can't rely on the unproven talent on the squad.
On one hand I can see Mangini doing that, but on the other hand I can see Schotty still sucking. I hope you're right.
that's my position as well. But if the head coach does have any influence on his OC, Ryan will have a good one. I know Ryan wants ball control, but I hope he doesn't want pussy play calling at the same time. There is a difference. Schotty better not even be in the realm of Hackett in terms of a ball control offense. If so, then the Jets have learned nothing.
The draft will tell the story if we dont take a QB or WR in the 1st 3 rounds Schotty must think that Kellen/Ratliff & Clowney/Stuckey can get it done.
