I think Alex Smith is the only QB in the capped era to have a season as bad as Jimmy Clausen's rookie year and turn out ok in the end. For Geno there are a bunch of comps but they're all flawed in some way. Eli was the #1 pick and the indisputable franchise player for the Giants and so he could have sucked worse even than he did and gotten a bunch more chances. Same for Matt Stafford and the Lions. The reality is that usually a mid-2nd round pick doesn't get a lot of chances. His team doesn't have enough of an investment in him to live with the flaws that emerge in the hope that he'll solve them and become a good QB. This is one of the reasons that drafting a mid-2nd round QB to be a starter is so risky. The guy who makes the pick is likely going to have to justify it over and over again to get his pick a real shot at sticking and the odds are better that the GM gets fired than that the QB sticks as a result of all that investment. Geno will be very lucky indeed if Ryan Fitzpatrick's intransigence hands him the Jets starting QB job. Given the alternatives on the roster it's very possible that Mike Maccagnan will get lucky also if Geno can hold the job. Less opportunity for Mac's picks to sink him in that scenario.
With luck 8-8 but most likely 7-9. Let's see, no Brick, no Colon, no Ivory, no Cromartie, Pace or Snacks, no Walls and no Davis and nobody proven to be as good or better than any of them as their replacements. Then..we have 7 games agains playoff teams PLUS Indy PLUS the Ravens and PLUS 2 against Buffalo who we all of a sudden can't beat. Oh, did I mention no Fitz at this point too? The people who think we will be a good team this year are dreaming.
"I gotta feeling...a feeling I can't hide..oh yeah " P McCartney "Its a Good Feeling To know" Poco GUT SAYS: Enough with the cherry picking...this team is now loaded for PO run now more than eva 3-3 over first 6 opponents 7-3 over last 10 opponents 10-6 Doable 11-5 Very Lucky
We let Walls, Cro, Davis, Pace, and Colon walk, thank God! And replaced Ivory and Brick with better players: things being equal. And got a two for one with Snacks As much as our team changed so did all the others. Strength of schedule is looking back without vision ahead. We got younger and faster and chucked a punter who killed us. You should bet the under.
Haha..we replaced Brick with a guy who hasn't played in 2 years and Ivory with somebody that makes Ivory look young. The rest you mention we didn't even replace so thank God is a ridiculous statement. Another one that will see what we lost once they start playing the games.
Oh sure. Your worried about Forte/Ivory, but lament losing a bunch of guys they essentially cut because of negative production. And were able sign Mo AND add additional depth along the D-Line with the snacks money. Yeah, okay. Yeah you know what this team is gonna be. Bet it.
I look at the schedule and it looks like 2014 all over again. Our best case scenario after 7 games is 3-4 likely we will be 1-6 or 2-5. The best thing that ever happened to Geno Smith was the Jets resigning Fitz as whoever is the starting the QB is not likely to be the QB by mid-season. I think Fitz will do better than Smith would have done over the 1st games as he should handle tough times better but, whoever takes over at mid-season has a soft schedule and an opportunity to fool people into getting a shot at starting job and a new contract for 2017. In other words, I am not too optimistic about the team this year mainly because of the schedule. When bad things happen they generally compound upon themselves. We might start off as a very good and competitive team but if losses start to mount things generally go downhill fast. 5-11 sounds quite optimistic. Hopefully, I am very wrong.
Can you please explain/enlighten me on how Matt Forte makes Ivory "look young"? Because the last time I checked... A.) Matt Forte has only missed a combined total of 8 games throughout his 8 year career. & B.) Over the past 3 NFL seasons Matt Forte ranks top 3 in terms of total all purpose yards from scrimmage (per game). Also, over the past two seasons Forte & Ivory has combined for... Forte: 1,936 rushing yards, 10 rushing TD' s, 146 receptions for 1,197 receiving yards & 7 TD receptions. A combined 3,133 All-Purpose yards from scrimmage along with 17 TD's. Ivory: 1,891 rushing yards, 13 rushing TD's, 48 receptions for 340 receiving yards & 2 TD receptions. A combined 2,231 All-Purpose yards from scrimmage along with 15 TD's. It's more than obvious that you've been misinformed when stating remarks such as "Forte makes Ivory look young". You re wrong as wrong could be. I loved Ivory's style of play regarding his physicality in which he plays the game with but unlike Chris Ivory; Matt Forte is an offensive X-Factor as a 2x Pro-Bowler. Forte's without question one of the most explosive, versatile & dynamic all around backs out there. Ivory's never been the type of play making threat in which Forte is. And an NFL defence will never have to game plan around an Ivory as they're forced to worry about & game plan for a Forte.
We'll go 2-0 in the first two weeks. And then there will be a bunch of threads about play off scenarios and SuperBowl tickets
Well, we lost the last five straight against the Bills. 37-14, 43-23, 38-3, 22-17, 22-17. But yea, that's an easy win. Last time we played the Bengals, we lost 49-9. Dalton threw for FIVE damn touchdowns. They've had a winning record the last five seasons. Dalton had the second best passer rating last season, he's an efficient passer. Their defense was pretty damn good last year. Maybe you're thinking about the Browns who suck but I don't hear Ravens or Steelers fans brushing them off so casually.
