Is this for real? That's hysterical. It's understandable that a young, physically gifted top pick is cut by a team that owes him like 30 million dollars. To be cut by a team who has you on a minimum contract really shows how hopeless a player you are.
Poor Vernon.. the Bears clearly didn't give him a chance. They had preconceived opinions on him and he just didn't get a fair shake. All these teams just have something against playing a super pass rushing force like Vernon Gholston. It's a damn conspiracy!!
Somebody get Gholston a Wal-Mart application... he could be a door greeter... its at least a position she won't be expected to stop anyone in. I smell success here.
I thought Gholston might have a shot in Chicago to be honest.. He got to be in a 4-3, would play opposite Julius Peppers who commands double teams, got to play for a great line coach in Marinelli... but he just sucks, there are no 2 ways about it.
Lets be real, we haven't tried him with his hand in the dirt from an olb position. he needs a fair shot.
I think it's entirely plausible that, aside from his Gholstony preseason performance, Rod Marinelli and Lovie Smith canned Vernon's ass because of what he said about Rex. When one of the most respected defensive coaches in the league makes himself look foolish by praising a terrible player, and then said player has the audacity to say "I wasn't given a fair shot"... well, I bet that doesn't sit too well with other defensive coaches. I don't know if it's tragic or hilarious, but it's fucking stunning how Vernon Gholston can't understand what a failure he is.
Proves that heart matters more than anything. Gholston has none of it. Took me a while to figure it out because the dude looks the mold and says the right things(Outside of this offseason) but on the field, he doesn't want "it" and doesn't care about the game.
If the ghost had one spec of humility and passion in his muscle bound retard body he would be a serviceable NFL player. But lo and behold, he wants to make excuses, blame other people and not put in the work that is required to stick in this league. He'll get the wakeup call when his money runs out and he is applying for a job loading boxes in a warehouse.
