Good post, well done. You are right in particular about the fans being impatient. I think a lot of it is due to having to put up with Mark Sanchez, but people are reading a lot into Geno's mistakes and comparing them to Sanchez. The problem with that is Geno is a rookie not a veteran, and mistakes happen with rookies. I was impressed with Geno in the first game. In the second game, I thought he was just OK; he was hurt by drops but also made multiple mistakes on his own. We need to see more than 2 games, though. Everybody was posting about how Geno needed time to learn, was raw, etc. Yet now, having fallen into the starting position right away, some people want to see him benched or are convinced he's not the answer after just 2 starts. Let it play out a bit further before coming to these types of conclusions. When a 2 game rookie throws multiple interceptions, it doesn't mean he's going to be the next Mark Sanchez. Give it time, see if it gets better or worse, then we'll know what we have in Geno.
Simms has the better arm (while Geno's is still very good), but other than that I agree with pretty much everything else.
Yeah...welcome. You may be right in saying Geno is the better choice...but it has absolutely nothing to do with the reasons you give. And poise is anything but an "intangible"...Geno has it in spades. p.s. Simms has a better release and a stronger more accurate arm than Geno. I hope we get to see it in a game.
Dude, this cannot be true. If Simms had a 1) better release, 2) more accurate arm, and 3) stronger arm than Geno, he would have been drafted and it's not even an argument. The fact is, just because he looked good in some preseason games means nothing. Geno has been average best at this point. I highly doubt Simms would have been any better and we have been 0-2 with Simms.
At this stage of the game...neither Geno or Matt is the answer.....................................................................................................until we get some receivers that can catch the fuckin' ball.
Geno played very well today. He completely outplayed EJ (but they do obviously play against different defenses). 3 total TDs, 345 total yards and a 90 passer rating is pretty damn good. He made two bad throws all game and 1 bad decision. The 1st INT was underthrown by about 3-4 yards but it was the right read as Holmes was open over the top. 2nd INT was a rookie mistake. Overall good game by Geno IMO. That game winning TD was one of the best throws Ive seen from a Jets QB in a while. That was a hell of a throw. He also got rid of the ball quicker, and didnt let mistakes from him or the offense of the defense affect him. If he can continue to work on his footwork and cut down on those turnovers, he can be a pretty good QB.
Geno, things I liked: -Last week and in TB he took sacks and INTs in the RZ, Geno did not do that in the times it happened. -Geno protected the ball in the pocket and seemed more comfortable. -Geno had the INT on the long ball, then connected on most of the ones later in the game, some really big time throws too after missing on most of his deep balls last week Negatives -Those INTs. The first one just a poor throw. The second one, just didn't read the defense properly and telegraphed the throw.
IMO, he definitely has showed more positives than negatives. His stats may not be great due to the turnovers, but he has made some big time throws and definitely has the tools to work with.
according to abyz no geno lover has knowledge of football so you just discreted yourself anyways now seriously Geno is a good Qb
Geno Smith the first Jets rookie QB to throw for over 300 yards since.......A guy by the name of Joe Willie Namath
