 When the OP almost never posts and is already on my ignore list, you know it's bad!! He's had what? 10 total live game snaps? OH MAN WHAT A BUST! HE'S TERRIBLE!!!
Geno had a baaaaad game... So in light of that I went back to look at how some other rookie QB's fared in their regular season (since pre-season stats often are not available) debuts and early start sequences. QB#1 threw 3 TD's and 11 Int's in his first 4 starts as his team was going 0-4. He finally got as high as a QB Rating of 63.6 in his 4th start. This was one of those 60's or 70's QB's right? The guys who played under the old rules where vivisecting QB's and WR's with chainsaws was legal, right? Nope that was Peyton Manning in 1998. With Marvin Harrison as his main target and Marshall Faulk as his RB... QB#2 had 1 TD and 7 Ints in his first 5 starts. Joe Flacco. QB#3 had 1 TD and 6 Int's in his first 4 starts. Eli Manning. All of this just to point out that under pressure young QB's often boil before they get it all figured out. Tonight was one pre-season game. If Geno has 3 TD's and 11 Int's in his first 4 starts? Well, yeah I'll be worried.
His performance will keep the expectations low. Hopefully he learns from his mistakes and shows progress in the coming weeks. If Geno makes mistakes in the Eagles games ill be okay with it. As long as there was a sense of visible improvement between the Giants game and Eagles game.
Couldn't agree more- rookies make rookie mistakes. To expect something different is stupid. It's depressing (and a little boring) to read all the doomsday comments on this site after ONE BAD GAME THAT DOESN'T COUNT FOR ANYTHING!
I am simply asking for Geno to LOOK comfortable. I mean it. I'm sure most of you have watched enough football to know what I mean. Making the mental errors...you are right, that comes with it. The turnovers etc...but damn it, he just doesn't look like he wants to be there....comfortable at all.
he looked somewhat comfortable... as much as a rookie can. its just a matter of time with him, in the most literal sense of the term. he'll only get better the more he plays and learns from his mistakes. how best to go about it is the big question.
Geno just doesn't look comfortable Not to mention he was a 2nd round pick This could be a wasted pick in the long run I'm not too optimistic
I disagree. I thought he looked plenty comfortable, he just fucked up a couple times. First pick, bad pass behind Spadola. 2nd pick under pressure. 3rd pick good defense (Tuck dropping back). Running out the back of the Endzone is poor. Are any of these errors fatal? Seriously, is any one of these errors worse than dropping a fucking snap. MF completed more screen passes in a bad game than Sanchez has in 2 years.
A 2nd round rookie who started his first game didn't look comfortable. Time to cut him from the team!
Actually, Flash, it's more than that...really, you thought he looked comfortable?? The happy feet, lack of mechanics...lack of planting his feet etc.. What about WHAT you saw made you think he looked comfortable?? Seriously...I'm asking.
Rookie mistakes, he can only improve. When you are in year 5 making the telegraph moves like Geno did tonight thats when it is bad. Geno will get better.
