Isn't this thread the Coles TD thread. It was third and 2 when Favre threw the INT (intended for Stuckey). And in that particular situation I do agree that I didn't really care for that play call. When you are in the redzone a crossing route is difficult because of the increased traffic.
Now... you can't do that. Not on that pass. Brett saw Coles running into the CB - so Coles had inside. That's why Brett threw it like that - he timed it well, since Coles turned around just in time too. the CB didn't do that - they are reacting part, not action-initiating part, so that's to be expected. Much worse was Pennington's pass on Cotchery during 17-14 win at Foxboro, if I had to enlighten you - Ellis Hobbs should have intercepted the ball, but Cotchery just beat him up, and took the ball away. That you can call terrible decision, but this pass? Not really. Also... I am very sure that play wasn't designed to be that way - which is why Coles had to adjust after that surprised look. Then, that's what makes Brett tick - he improvises as he sees fit, and he's good at it. It's one thing to bitch about his bone-headed picks, but this attack on a sound pass is uncalled for.
And with the way our pass blocking has been of late will get him killed as well. He took way too many unnecessary hits today and last week as well.
