Some of the people on that final 53 are pending other teams cuts. Graham Harrell making the roster alongside Geno Smith means the Jets have two Pistol/Air Raid QB's. Rex said he wanted to maybe incorporate some Pistol but the comments got lost in the shuffle. I wonder how Marty Mornhinweg feels about the Pistol? Harrell is probably gone for somebody else after the waiver wire populates fully but it is very interesting that the Jets have two Air Raid guys onboard now.
the raiders are very unhappy at QB right now, if it only cost them a 6th or 7th I could see them taking a flier on Sanchez...they have nothing to lose...though I don't know their cap space. And of course I still think it's more likely Sanchez is more injured than anyone is letting on.
According to overthecap. com the Raiders have $78M committed to the active cap but also have $49.9M in dead money this year. No space there I think.
I hear you MoWilk, I'm only thinking if it were a matter of cleaning up his technique then no problem, but in his case I don't know how they can play him "outside" at tackle as slow as he is. Maybe he gets moved to guard, I dunno.. Anyway, you psyched for opening day or what?
Yea I could see him getting moved to guard. We'd definitely need to pick up another tackle then though. And haha yea I'm hoping to see the team step up like week 1 last year. How great would it be to see Geno just light it up?
CUTTING CREW The Jets released LB JoJo Dickson, DL Junior Aumavae, OL Erik Cook, CB Mike Edwards and DL Tevita Finau, WR Ben Obomanu, WR Mohamed Massaquoi, WR Michael Campbell, WR Zach Rogers, TE Chris Pantale, OL J.B. RB Mossis Madu was released with an injury settlement (minor concussion), according to a source. On Friday, the team released veteran NT Antonio Garay and K Dan Carpenter. Mike Goodson was placed on the reserve/suspended list and will not count against the roster maximum until after his four-game suspension is complete. I haven't taken the time to verify this list but I wonder if the fact that on the Jets 53 man roster 18 players on the roster are UDFA's and if that's close to some sort of record. that's 34% of the roster folks. The list. 1. Harrell 2. Simms 3. K. Bell 4. C. Ivory 5. Spadola 6. Cumberland 7. Reuland 8. Howard 9. Douzable 10. Harrison 11. Bellore 12. Lansanah 13. Mauga 14. McIntyre 15. Trufant 16. Walls 17. R. Malone 18. Purdum Just an observation.
I'm not blaming the current regime, hell I'd give them a pass if all 18 were new UDFA's to the team this year because of the cap mess and lack of depth on the team that was left by the last regime. It just kind of started me to think what the record for most UDFA's on a team was, at least for a non expansion team. the 34% sounds like an awfully high number.
And now Brady Quinn? Something's fucky. The QB situation is turning into a shit-rope. Shit tectonics at play. And you know what happens then.
