Dolphins cut Mike White. Seriously if he makes it back to them on waivers they absolutely need to sign him. With their top 2 QBs injury histories, neither of the preseason QBs impressing and Travis redshirting I want a real 3rd QB option.
Interesting…I would think Mike White is better than either Peasley or Martinez, but not sure we have the cap room do we?
He's flashed a bit ( I posted about him a couple games ago) and I'm positive on his future but he's not ready to start opposite JJ yet. If he's a fast learner maybe by mid-season but next year or even two seems more likely. I've actually been thinking about Lawrence Guy as an emergency signing. Had you entertained that at all?
Because A - We dont need a FB B - The two rookies can block and are great with their hands off the back field C - Izzy can continue to sub Hall and Allen on the running game D - Two back formation will be very nice to see on a run heavy offense
LOL…NO! Not suggesting we bring him back at all Just commenting about a former highly drafted WR flaming out…some teams like the Steelers seem to find WRs out their ass … late round guys, etc. For some reason we have failed so many times at that position Strangely enough, the Ravens, who are a very good drafting team, also can’t seem to draft a decent WR
We sure have had a streak of failures in that area. Rams also seem to get awesome WRs in almost every round
I would feel pretty decent about a QB room of Rodgers, Tyrod and Mike White. They would probably want to do either/or, but the truth is that neither is what you want as a single backup on a contending team.
Although the following list him as a DT I'm pretty sure he's played considerable snaps at DE. From Feb 20, 2024: FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced today that they have released DT Lawrence Guy Sr. and S Adrian Phillips. Guy, 34, is a veteran of 13 NFL seasons, including seven seasons (2017-23) with the Patriots. The 6-foot-4, 315-pounder, was selected to the Patriots 2010s All-Decade Team and was a part of the 2018 Super Bowl championship team. He has also spent time with the Green Bay Packers (2011), Indianapolis Colts (2012-13), San Diego Chargers (2013-14) and Baltimore Ravens (2014-16). Guy originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft pick (233rd overall) out of Arizona State in the 2011 NFL Draft. He was signed by New England as an unrestricted free agent from Baltimore on March 13, 2017. Guy has played in 177 regular season games with 122 starts and has 507 total tackles, 17 sacks, 1 interception, 2 forced fumbles and 6 fumble recoveries. In addition, he has played in 13 postseason games with nine starts and registered 33 total tackles. Last season, Guy played in 17 games with 12 starts for the Patriots and finished with 38 total tackles.
Isn't he a vested veteran (more than 4 years of experience)? If he is, then he doesn't go through waivers and can sign wherever he wants.
We also know he can't manage a game either--He was a good option at the time--now, there's no reason for him to be here. IMO
I like Mike White, the move here is to keep him close to the phone in case there’s an injury to Rodgers or Taylor though, no need to sign him right away
Cool--why do you like him? I would like to see/hear some data that shows his gameplay can be converted into wins. I'm all ears.
