After I came back to the board after a hiatus he was waiting for me with arms wide open, at which point we got into what seemed to be a 3 week long pissing contest. Which is why I say I have some of #4 in me. If you 4 on me I will 4 right back and not stop unless you tap out, to a fault. BTW can we take a min to discuss how JI has fallen off the face of the earth since migrating to scout? That place is decrepit. I pop by once a month to witness the absolute cesspool that has taken hold. TGG.com and thejetsblog.com are my go to's and it's not even close.
BB can provoke you with the nicest of words, I hate that shit lol, but it gets to me and causes me to say some hateful words. I think everyone has a little bit of 4 in them. Some of the JI posters have migrated here actually since then. This is the only real Jets board in the internet in my opinion since JI changed up. There was a thread on it a while back. Not sure if you were here at the time.
Yeah I think I recall it. I was pretty skeptical about the change to scout, but reserved judgment until people moved around and a sample was in place. Man it's bad.
Why rate others here? We know who they are. I'd put myself at 80% #2 and 10% #1 because I prefer to look at the big picture rather than microanalysis. Throw in about 8% #3 because the "long suffering" part is always there and that leaves 2% #4 for when the jackasses just get the better of me.
I'm not presumptuous enough to give myself a rating. I was a lurker here from the site's beginning, just joining when I found I could only see links with a high post count. I don't enjoy confrontation (with one recent exception), here or in real life, and I watch in amusement turning to boredom as threads deteriorate into pissing contests. I rarely post anything unless I actually know what I'm talking about. I mentioned a couple days ago that Namath's draft rights had been traded for back in '64 and found that no one knew what I was talking about, even the older members. As a fan I go back to Titans days, even before our curmudgeonly elder statesman Champ. Made me realize I actually have something to offer here so I've been commenting more than I ever have. I don't know if that bores the younger members or not. Hopefully I'm not putting anyone to sleep.
I don't like confrontation either, I usually try to dignify others by just agreeing to disagree. No need to belittle anyone on a forum.. JMO
I'd probably classify myself as #2. As an athlete (or former lol) I understand the game from a basic sports standpoint and some of the X's and O's. But a lot of things that I read about player evaluation I dont understand. Things like "aggressive hands" and "fluid hips" are two things I see a lot, but would never be able to point at. Just havent studied it enough, and dont really care to. I'm more than happy to listen to people who understand it better. I'm not much into keyboard pissing matches. They show up a lot with certain posters, and I just dont find it enjoyable. I dont like to argue the same point over and over, when I know its not getting me anywhere. My favorite are the guys that say they are Jets fans, but only come out when something goes wrong. Or more accurately, when nothing is going wrong, but they want to stir the pot. Like I've mentioned in another thread, there's usually 4 steps to how those topics go: 1. Create topic based on any controversial event that could be perceived as bad. 2. Trash the Jets strategies as much as you can, while others try to explain that it isnt a big deal. 3. Coaches come out to clarify and put a lid on the controversial topic, and explain that it was never as big a deal as was being made. 4. Avoid posting until another seemingly controversial event arises, rinse, repeat.
"fluid hips" os the single most important quality for a CB or safety to have. If they can change direction at a dime it is much easier to cover a WR. Without that flexibility they are usually limited to backup or nickel because they are to stiff to cover faster WRs.
I should have clarified, I understand why it is good to have. But if I'm evaluating prospects (which I do try to do), I dont even know that I would recognize that lol.
I see myself as #2 w/ a splash of #1. I've played football in HS, obviously not collegiate or pro level.
Shakira is a good example of fluid hips but her tackling skills are likely to fall short of David Harris standards.
Are you kidding? All she'd have to do is move in the appropriate manner and perhaps have a little more revealing uniform than the typical NFLer and the WRs would tackle HER!!!
