I think you strongly underestimate an organizations willingness to say FUCK THAT and let him sit out if he's going to try to hard ball them that hard. It certainly wouldn't be the first time.

This is literally the first athlete we've ever seen that has seemingly gained more support after trying to force a trade.

Easier said than done. It's easy to say just let him rot, but there's a PR situation at play here.

This is 2021, anyone who doesn't share 100% of your opinions is a flaming racist.

We are starving for a glimmer of hope since loosing Lawrence. This off season has so many unknowns it’s wild...

The Texans front office has been obsessed with trying to build the Patriots South for what will be a decade running by the time Caserio is done. He's been a name mentioned in general manager searches for quite some time - Belichick has always blocked interview requests. He's always been a hot candidate.

It's not like they promoted the strength and conditioning dope to build the team.

Omar Khan is an EVP of football operations. He's never been a GM or overly involved in personnel decisions from what I've read. Louis Riddick talks a good game on TV and could maybe be a good GM. But he hasn't been involved in personnel decisions for a franchise in 8 years.

Not to mention, remember who we ended up when we hired a search team?

I understand all of this. I said I’m not implying it was racially driven, but I am saying I can understand how someone would think the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree when it comes to the McNair’s.

Hiring a white general manager over a black general manager automatically flags the decision as being based on race. And it's sad.

Wow the Texans also didn't want to hire Bienemy. Should've given him the interview to appease Watson. But there's been what? Probably 18 head coaching vacancies since he's been a "hot" candidate over the past three years? Several minorities have been hired. No one wants Bienemy for whatever reason. That doesn't make it racist.

I think people don't understand how racism works. You don't need to yell down the hallways using racial slurs to create an environment that is uncomfortable for people of color.

Full disclosure - I am black. But look at my post history since 2003. if you can find even 10 posts even alluding to race/color in ANY WAY over 18 years, I'll hop off the board until next season starts. I am not trying to make this into a racial thing, simply stating the facts of everything that's been reported.

    - yes the father did make some comments about the inmates running the asylum and something else (don't recall sorry) that was not received well.

    - D Hop was traded because the organization got the impression he was a "thug" and bad guy off the field with absolutely zero proof. He also said something about his "baby mamas" which is ridiculous to use. How about "Your child's/children's mother".

    - The search firm Korn Ferry recommended Omar Khan and Luis Riddick as their top choices for GMs. McNair, after paying them $250k, ignored that advice and went with Cesario. Many people believe that to be because they didn't like the fact that they they would have minority candidates at the helm.

    - They did not have Saleh or Bienemy in their coaching search plans until it blew up in their face because Watson was annoyed. Say what you want, but those 2 candidates were at least in the top 5-7 of EVERY TEAMS list, yet the mysteriously weren't good enough to interview for the Texans. These things all surfaced recently, and not before he signed his extension. They ALL happened after that.

    Hope this helps.

If we drew professional conclusions on people based on putting our fathers words in our own mouths there would be a lot of guys in their 50s and 60s around here that would be fired on the spot tomorrow morning and never given a job in America again.

but to not interview him? When EVERYONE else had him on the list to interview. Or Saleh? You don't find that odd?

Meh. Hire the best person regardless of race. Having 2 black recommendations reeks of social justice and not merit to me. Since 2006 6.25% of NFL GMs have been black.

They completed interviews with Bieniemy and Leslie Frazier for their HC spots and Omar Khan and Louis Riddick for their GM spot. All four are minorities.

I do find it odd that Saleh wasn't interviewed, but maybe he just wasn't what they wanted. High energy psychopath on the sidelines just ain't for everyone.

I'm not oblivious to the fact that racism exists in the world. I was simply asking for the proof that it exists in this circumstance and I appreciate you laying these things out.

The conversation with Hopkins had was with O'Brien, general manager and head coach. He traded him away after that conversation. He's since been fired.

Many people believe that race played a factor in that based on the simple principle that the hire they went with was white and not black? Not that these older owners aren't cheap, but he can wipe his ass with $250,000. He went with the candidate with much more experience and in the scouting game for 17 years and the director of player personnel for 12. Khan has never held a scouting position, and Louis Riddick was a DoPP for three years and hasn't done it in 8 and running.

I get the optics and all that. But the fact that we can't think 'hey the owner liked what this guy had to offer moreso than what that guy had to offer,' and automatically have to assume it's based on racism is not good.

Not really. There seems to be a reason that literally half the league has passed over him to be their head coach.

Regardless, they have since interviewed him. I also think there was a massive overreaction after three days of interviews everyone declared that the Texans were racist for not interviewing two guys. There are literally still FOUR open jobs.

From what I've seen/heard on several places, they had reportedly already made the offer to Khan and Easterby called up Cal and convinced him to rescind the offer & hire Caserio
