Not a great look for him or the Nets but I like seeing he’s still in NY. It irrationally makes me think there’s a better chance.
Thank you Houston for hopefully trading your two biggest sports superstars to NY teams in 2021. Keep up the good work.
yup he posted on his IG he was in BK with a picture of the bridge and that he was pulling up on KD at the game. Then posted with some friends at the game later on seems like he enjoys NY which is good hope we are in the convo for his services. I think it would be a game changer for our team and org
Watson needs to demand a trade first, like Adams. It will be tough for Texans FO to trade him even from fans standpoint unless he does that. They need to get a head coach, who might talk to Watson and who knows - maybe fix things. Then they need to evaluate prospects for the draft. If they like a QB, say Fields or Wilson, it might make this a lot easier. In this sense it helps to have a second overall pick, since they would get their choice of these two. It's definitely a slow burn, and should be resolved at some point before the draft.
He's a bit of a prima donna and a bit too self-absorbed for me. And we are supposed to pay him $40 MM ? I'll pass.
LOL. What a tweet thread. I hate that I have the slightest bit of hope of this happening, because as a Jet fan I know one thing: nothing this beautiful can ever come my way.
What a total diva. The Texans should have seen it coming at his extension press conference when he... ...broke down in tears and cited the trust the organization was putting in him as the most meaningful part of the deal?
You know how it goes with Jets fans. When they are rumoured to be available Mr Average is a genuine franchise QB and Mr Top 10 is a future HoFer. Once they are on the Jets that same Mr Average is the worst QB in the league and Mr Top 10 is meh.
This happened because they had Paul Holmgren and then Mike McCarthy, two guys known for building up QB's and winning with them. When we tried that we hired Adam Gase. Seriously, if the Jets had taken Pat Mahomes in 2017 he'd be on his way out of town right about now and headed for a Tarvaris Jackson career as a backup QB. Why is Pat Mahomes a superstar? Andy Reid and patience, two things the Jets will never have.
O'Brien and Palcic were buddies. Once O'Brien was fired the odds were pretty good that the people he was closest to in the organization would wind up getting ousted too. That's a predictable set of interactions. The reason it was predictable was that O'Brien wielded so much power in his last couple of years with the team. 'Cultural fit' is shorthand in this case for Palcic had nobody to pepper with ideas on a daily basis, something she did with O'Brien for years.
Can you point to anything to back up him being a prima donna and self absorbed? And his signing bonus is paid, this would mean his average cap hit over 5 years would be just over $29M a season which would put him about 11th highest before the next round of contracts. That is not a lot for a QB of his caliber. Edit: Not to mention his cap hit this coming season is only $10M
I didn't realize this and it is something I think will play a role in trading Watson, but the Dolphins 3rd overall pick is the pick Houston traded them for Tunsil. If I'm Houston, there is no way I am trading my star QB to that same team to get back my already traded pick. Talk about making yourself look stupid twice LOL
FWIW, looks like Watt quietly jumping ship, too. https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/arti...ive_time_all_pro_de_jj_watt/s1_13132_33839135 Maybe the Texans are looking to package the two together? hah
Does anyone know the actual cap numbers for each year Watson would have left if we did trade for him? I know it’s around 15 mil this coming year but what is it beyond that?
