miami has some good players on both sides of the line. their OL is on par with ours and their front 4 has some guys. not many teams are gonna blow them off the line.
harris has been poor for a while. always shocked the guy gets so many passes and praise. he was never a good 3rd down player, and his tackling has gotten worse the past few years. to me, he is the weakest link we have in the front 7
I'm worried about our defense. We don't tackle well, we get man handled at the line and can't set the edge so teams run all over us, we have no pass rush, and we dont cover the middle of the field and now without revis we don't even cover the outsides particularly well. Right now there is not one aspect of this D that is playong well and Rex who I have always backed will say something like "well we know where we'll end up". If you keep playing like this Rex you will end up ranked in the bottom 3rd of the league. I always believed that while Rex was here we would have a top 5 defense. Last year I chalked it up to a lot of break downs that caused our points against to go up but overall yardage wise we were still good. This year we are bad all around and unless guys like Thomas, Pace, and Scott hot the fountain of youth, and these younger guys step up then I don't see us fixing it. What happened to playing like a Jet and installing a physical defense.
And yet the defense has still been terrible. the offense and defense can both be terrible simultaneously, and one being bad does not equate to the other being good or competent. so either you have attempted to make the argument by trying to minimize how bad the defense has been by pointing out how bad the offense has been, which doesn't negate the defense's performance, or you have made an outright irrelevant statement to the conversation discussing the offense when the topic is about the defense.
I can appreciate the criticism of our Defense. I can not figure out who the leaders are, or are suppose to be. The don't seem to play with that killer instinct of a team like the Ravens. However, our defense is still a top 5 defense in the NFL. From a coaching standpoint, I can not understand the starting lineup we have on the Line. I may have missed a couple things, but it appeared that our starting lineup was Wilkerson, Pouha, and Devito. I can appreciate that Pouha and Devito are experienced and can hold the line, but they do not push the line to make lanes for our LB's. In my opinion, the best DLine we have is Wilkerson, Ellis, Coples, and have Devito/Pouha for depth. Our starting Linebackers just are not great players, none of them! Harris is not a slow linebacker as I have been hearing, but he is not very agile. In addition, I never see him hit going down hill. Scott is replaceable with players on the team already, and Pace is replaceable. We have alot of money tied up in these two, but we have better players on the roster right now, imo. I am going to hear some flack on this, but I think Thomas is the best LB on the team right now. McIntyre has played really well in Thomas absence, and should take the ROLB role, with thomas taking the LOLB role. Hopefully, Davis will progess quicker than anticipated, and take over for Scott in the next 3 weeks. I would attempt to trade Pace right now. With all that being said, I believe we need to go to a 4-3 base, and is very hard for me to say, as I love the 3-4 defense. In this case, I believe our best lineup is Thomas as LDE, Coples LDT, Ellis RDT, and Wilkerson RDE. I believe our best LB lineup would be Davis as the LOLB, Harris as MLB, and McIntyre as ROLB. I would get into our Offense, but I don't know how many pages I would be allowed to type. Thoughts are appreciated.
it is so sad to see someone who clearly had such fight in him, before realizing how completely fucking stupid everything he has posted has been, retreat to deflections to try and save face in the hopes that nobody will notice.
The defense obviously isn't going to be better. The question is ... how much worse? We better figure out a way to put more points on the board. Sanchez, Sparano and co. better stepthefuckup!
You're a lost cause. Obviously you have a comprehension deficiency. Debating with you is equivalent to a history professor debating the civil war with a Spanish teacher. The only explanation is that my 9 year old niece is logged in under the username 'JetBlue'.
21st in total defense and 29th against the run, yeah the defense needs to be a lot better. But they just lost the best defensive player in the NFL (and it's not even close) so I don't know how the Jets make that transition.
except we aren't debating, and never were. you posted completely dumb fuck arguments that were irrelevant to the topic at hand, not to mention devoid of any logic whatsoever, I pointed out the stupidity, and you have retreated to pathetic deflections. that's not a debate. what happened? you were more interesting when you posted your completely dumb fuck arguments with such zeal. I am proud of you that you have been able to realize how stupid they were and indefensible, but you should be able to save your face with much better material than you are using.
Great post. Would like to hear your opinions on the offense if you get a chance. Could not agree MORE that if we are playing a 3-4 our starting 3 down lineman have to be wilk ellis copels.....why the hell is devito starting?!?!?!!
The D was slightly better but they allowed SF's O to change field position all 1st half while it was a game.
The linebackers are woefully slow. They simply can't fill gaps or wrap up on tackles. It's clear as day...I'm not sure what they do to fix that. Maybe play a 5-2?
