He didn't want to be a dumbo like his uncle and miss a year's pay. He's gotta feed his kids and all... Thank god this crap is done with. He better stay healthy. Let's Go Jets!!!!
huh? because he is getting a shitload of guaranteed money for 4 years and can bank in again in the prime of his career.. This is a much better deal for him to take.
he was never going to see that $122 million so why lock himself up for 10 years? but he will almost certainly see every dime of the $46 million.
We can. But then again, it now seems like the figures that had been floating around were incorrect and misinformed.
Exactly this was a good deal for both sides. He wanted a lot of it guaranteed for the short ammount of time and he knows he can cash in again. I think most players would want this deal.
I know. That's why I mentioned he'll get another HUGE contract while in his prime in four years time.
Why? Tanny admitted to 3 deals that he had out there: a 1 year, a 4 year, and a 10 year. They were hung up on the 10. The Jets wanted him locked up long term, he wanted too much out of that long term deal. They ended up getting him at the middle term, which was reportedly around 40 million. It seems a lot more like he simply had a deadline for himself and took the deal that worked best at that point. 4 years $46 million is great for both sides.
Good for him. Made his point, got some good money, didn't hurt the team by missing any games that matter.
4 x 46 is actually a GREAT deal for the Jets imo... Even with all those guarantees I never thought he would've signed for anything under 12... oh well, glad to be wrong
sportscenter is idiot - "7 year, 46 million dollar deal" pfff.. who the hell is editing the bottom line? i wouldnt even sign that deal in other news, i can't wait to follow the jets this week following a fairly lackluster and underwhelming preseason
It just shows the guaranteed money was important to him like I thought all along. What would you rather have 10-120 with 40 guaranteed or 4-46 with 32 of it GTD?
It's like christmas in september. Great stuff, the deal seems fair and I'm glad Revis wont miss any games
Oh...No, I've all episodes of Hard Knocks, just forgot about that discussion. I was hoping we found some new video of it. I guess next episode aint that far off and you can bet HBO will have Revis segment or comments for atleast half the show if not two third.
This deal will give a nice morale boost for the Ravens game... god I can't wait for the season to start!!!
I know I know... it just surprises me what the total amount is... although I expect some Tanny clauses here and there
