The Packers won many Superbowls prior to AR. Not sure he's the only reason they get there. Woody doesn't understand football. Never will. Everytime this team stumbles into success, that dude is there to piss on it so he can impress his friends. He is weak and incompetent and should not be in charge of toilets much less the lives of players and the fandom of the team. Either way, not a good comparison. That said, happy to be proven wrong.
the packers have had 30+ straight years of elite HOF QB play (favre and rodgers back to back) and only have 2 SBs in that span to show for it.
This ... defense can only win you so many games. When you have 85 yards of offense in a game or 36 yards passing the D isn't going to give you 13 extra points to make up for that lack of offensive production. We have weapons on O, we have a QB. We may end up with the top D in the league if things break right.
After watching our LBs get torched last year and our safeties were just about invisible, I will wait on giving our Defense "elite" status until those weaknesses are dealt with. The D is good, but those are weak spots that need to be addressed.
If the offense scores points and moves the chains we are playing with a lead and giving the defense time to rest. If opposing teams can't play ground and pound against a D running on fumes life will be hard for them.
4th overall in points and yards allowed with a god awful offense that couldn’t stay on the field (31st in avg drive time) but not good.
fan revisionism is funny at times. Players are either elite or trash it seems. nobody on our D got "torched" yeah we let up plays here and there, so does every team, even elite LBers and safeties. even sauce got beat a few times. if we were getting torched up the middle all year we wouldn't have had a top 5 D. we got torched in 2021 and our D was bottom 5, last year we were top 5. If a top 5 D gets torched then what about the 27 teams worse then us? super torched? mega torched?
The LBs and Safeties were definitely the weak point of the defense last season, but I still saw CJ Mosley playing well even if he did lose a step. He's very valuable in calling coverages on the field and he is fearless against any back, even Derrick Henry. He's a warrior in the run defense. I was much less impressed with Quincy, but he's still pretty young and I'm good with letting him develop. He has what you can't coach, speed.
Not "up" the middle, "over" the middle. TEs' and pass catching RBs had a field day against our LBs. Our DL was stout against the run. The ranking on the D was a result of our Secondary and our front 4. Our Safeties and LB's were soft targets. There is no way on this planet that Mosely's $21M cap hit can be justified. Especially after he took the COVID year off.
So the 4th ranked defense, which gave up 18.6 pts per game, was not good? Not many are saying there isn't room for improvement but they actually gave up the same pts per game before and after the 2nd Pat's game. 18. 6 pts per game the 1st 10 games and 18.57 pts per game the last 7 games. Didn't seem the P*ts gave much of any blueprint to the rest of the league.
yeah he's not worth that cap hit, but he was a pro bowler last year, we have aaron rodgers on a less then 2 mil cap hit this year and he's worth 45-50mil so thats how it goes at times. We were a little below average against the TEs, tied for 21st) Sea, Ari, ATL, Mia, and jax were the bottom 5. it's harder to fins info for RBs, but considering the putrid offense and lock down corners teams would have to use TEs against us more. I do agree that LBers as a whole (IDK why we didn't use kwon more) and S (along with OT) are our weakest spots but they are still far from "being torched" land.
I wonder if we use an early pick on an LB or S to address the weakest links in the D. We haven’t had a LB who could cover a TE in seemingly forever- regardless of scheme. To the point of the post- I think the D will look a lot more effective when they’re playing alongside an O that should be able to consistently score TDs. Keeps the D off the field longer and makes it palatable to give up the occasional FG if anything.
the defense WAS good. just not ALL the time. as mentioned "the offense cosres no pts fatigue" NEVER helps. but, yeah, saying CHAMPIONCHIP LEVEL D after 9 games wss stoopit
They were susceptible to the big play, but overall played well. Everything kind of fell off at the end there. I think the weakness of the defense was free safety and they could have been a little more stout up front against the run. And yeah, nothing kills momentum on defense faster than forcing a turnover or a 3 and out, then your offense doing the same exact thing and putting you right back out there with nothing to show for it.
“ That’s what she said” but on a serious note the D was absolutely amazing last year considering the other side of the ball. They kept us in games we had no business being in at all
