Right, and that's a really dumb plan. They are basically instituting a "dont ask dont tell" policy except it's with a virus that spreads easily and can also kill people. So players can still play if they have Covid, but not if they test positive for Covid.

Can anything be read into the TE coach being interim HC? Does Saleh not trust his coordinators? If so, WHY did he hire them then?
He probably doesn't want to take MLF out of the box (rightfully so) and Ulbrich can't even handle the defense.
Let’s look at the coordinators rationally, MLF isn’t allowed to leave the booth ever again Ulbrich. Well Boyer st coordinator is dealing with too many people from both offense and defense during a game to be hc for a day.
I don't think there's anything at all to be read into one of the coordinators not taking over the team in the event that Saleh can't go. Taking a coordinator and adding the extra responsibilities of the head coach to their plate complicates their preparation and can serve as a distraction, especially when it happens in this way when it happens in the middle of the team's preparation. In these situations, you elevate someone who is a trusted position coach, who can coordinate the logistics of the team and can help the coordinators and the rest of the staff/team see the big picture on gameday (when to punt, take timeouts, etc.) and just leave the coordinators to be fully focused on what they need to do, which is call their side of the ball.
I'd put good money on this game getting moved to either Monday or Tuesday. The Jets now have their HC and 17 players on the covid list.
Hopefully Ashtyn Davis can tackle Covid a whole lot better than he tackles football players because we have no safeties currently active that have even played a snap for us.
