The RT and RG weren't throwing the ball for him and that's why he has no chance of being the Jets QB next year or any other year either.

There is a reason we are keeping Shotenheimer on and it's not because he is a believer in inflicting his will on the opposition by running the ball. He is being paid to evaluate and make the decision on the QB for next year. They don't want a competition, they want a QB to get the reps and lead the team. I suspect it will be Clemens or Ratliff or an FA but not a competition.

Clemens was tested by this team before being drafted. He is one of the smartest QB's in terms of IQ and wonderlic scores. He has a high quality, much better than average release for an NFL QB and a very live arm although not spectacular well above average. He is strong and doesn't put the ball on the turf. He can move well and can throw on the run, his pocket presence and foot work were awful. That may well have been because when he played there was no pocket? Hard to tell. He clearly doesn't have the height you want but at this point there is nothing to suggest that he doesn't have the goods with a better OL and more time in the system.

I totally agree with that and have said it myself before. A QB competition is the worst possible thing this team could do. Hell, it's the worst possible thing any team can do.

Proportionally, Troy Aikman's first year stats are pretty much identical to Kellen's last season. Clemens had a couple more sacks, but the only significant difference is Aikman lost every game he played that year.

A QB competition is an admission of guilt by management that they suck. If after 3 seasons and a 4th off season we still need a QB competition, Tannenbaum should be not just fired but horse whipped.

Again, exactly right. It is something that coaches who are clueless, like Mangini, resort to.

If the object of TC and preseason is to bring your players to a level of executing at a high level for the season, how does a competition where reps are split by two young QB's who's major issue is executing with a lack of reps going to make the team better? This is the single most important aspect of the team. If you can't evaluate the players and make a decision to put the team in position to execute the team is not going anywhere. In Clemens case he is at the end of his contract. Either he is or isn't the guy now is the time to decide not after limiting his and Ratliff's reps.

Let them decide in mini camp who the starter will be and then stick with them unless they get hurt.

Look, there's a new coach and he's the guy who will decide who starts at QB. It's easy to understand why the new guy might want to see his top two options get reps with the first team before he makes his decision on who will start.

So, I have heard many many times that "the Jets" don't consider Clemens their QB of the future but that it is Ratliff. Some people here say they have never heard that but I figure they must be living on the ocean floor or something. The question that now comes to mind is who are "the Jets"? Was it just Mangini? Was it Mangini and Tannenbaum? Was it Mangini, Tannenbaum and Johnson?

What I found most interesting in the interviews on the day Ryan was introduced was Tannenbauum, Johnson and Ryan all said that Tannenbaum has final decision on ALL personnel matters. Just what does that mean when it comes to this?

I would think that means Tanny has final say on who they draft and who they sign. I wouldn't think it means Tanny has say on who gets playing time.

Well if you want a QB who has intangibles such as: Arm Strength, Awareness, Intelligence, Release, Fundamentals etc, then you gonna get a "Stat-padding asshole"

    Just an FYI...

Point blank, even in garbage time Kellen Clemens is GARBAGE. I don't know who is really out there to help the JETS at the QB position but looking at the roster right now, Mr. Ratliff has a better grasp of the playbook then Clemens right now.
