Its obvious Mayfield has talent. But the "It factor" is exactly what you need to play in New York. Maybe he is better at handling the media and all the other stuff that comes along with playing QB in New York. As oppose to Billy Bob Allen from Wyoming. Guys like him get swallowed up in New York before they even play. Case in point Hackenberg who reads his press clippings and buys into it.

How did both of them do in the "It Factor" drill at the combine?

Gotta say, I'm not a fan of the combine, but just throwing out "It factor" is worth hundreds of times less than quoting measurables.

Could care less about the combines either. The "It Factor" was him winning the Heisman. Making all the throws is also big on my list of quarterbacks measure of worth. Can't remember the last time the Jets had a Heisman throphy winner. Maybe Namath?

We were so close to landing Charlie Ward. The Knicks keep outmaneuvering us.

We had Tebow, which pretty much ends the it factor argument.

Huarte won that year and was signed by the Jets, but was beaten out by Namath.

I wouldn't mind them signing Mayfield AND Rosen though.:D

The Wilson’s need to pay off the Madoff settlement somehow. And the kid sells tons of jerseys. So many folks wearing Tebow shirts in St. Lucie. It’s not a great baseball move, but it’s a genius money-making move.

Judging by the amount of Tebots that infested this place, the Mets must be making a fortune off the kid.

You're confusing "it factor" with 'jesus Factor" I would say that they are different. One requires talent the other kneeling in the end zone.

The was the saying for years in New York. That the best QB in the city played for the Knicks.

I wouldn't say way more, but more for sure. Still he has less talent then the other 4 Qbs in the top 5

the "IT" factor is nothing more then marketing BS to push a player with less talent, and it sure as shit is working on people on these forums which is surprising to say the least

To me the IT factor is being clutch and raising your level if play when it is needed most. Some quarterbacks don't have IT at all, or only have IT for a little while then after teasing you into believing in them they proceed to shIT the bed in the last game of the season on the road in Buffalo when a win is needed to get in the playoffs.

There's a reason Fitz has been a journeyman QB. ;)
