I agree with your post, T-bird....but there's also no guarantee Feely makes those tackles if he stays in position either.
Another excellent and rational post by MBGreen. I'd just like to add one thought to the list: Like Sanchez, Rex is also still learning on the job as a rookie head coach. He's given us the most exciting defense I can remember the Jets having since the Sack Exchange and he's an outstanding motivator. But everyone knows you don't start going for 2-point conversions in the 3rd quarter. If we hit the extra point for those 2 TD's, a FG at the end of the game ties it. I'll chalk it up to Rex still getting used to HC responsibilities along with DC responsibilities.
As much as I'd like to see Woodhead succeed, I've also never been that high on him. But I think it's a little unfair to criticize him for his poor play when the CS CLEARLY shouldn't be putting him out there on kick coverage in the first place. And Izzo might be a bit old and slow but he's been solid and has made a few big plays for us already this season. Revis got burned by Ginn last Fins game and today he beat all our STs players downfield.. even those with an angle on him. Even if Feely had been back there waiting for him, I doubt he would've had the speed to catch him and make the tackle.
Understood. They may have well gone for Td's anyway. I have to look at the game again... who ever was supposed to be on outside contain also blew their assignment trying to sniff out a tackle. That might have been Woodhead. It wasn't Izzo, he is a wedge buster. I'm guessing Wright was on outside contain on the other sideline for both returns, but I have to replay the game to find out. Miami definitely saw something they could exploit on that side... maybe Woodhead? They set up a return right on both plays.
MB good post..........although it still sucks, especially having to hear the retard fin fns tomorrow. Oh well such is life.
I'm personally excited to hear about how we got swept and how the Dolphins are SuperBowl bound because of it. Good times..
ugh.....i can't imagine living in Miami as a Jets fan, Puck.....you have my sympathies...especially for tomorrow.
Nah it should be alright. The only person that is going to talk shit is the midget that sits across from me. I didn't say shit too him when that shit team was 0-3. I stand up give him a big round of applause make him look like a douche and he goes away. I don't usually talk smack to any of them as it really aint worth it, so it saves me in the long run. My idiot best friend is silent for last 5 years and I get 50 texts from him. Fuck him too...................lol
That is not true. If the Jets don't go for 2 the first time the Dolphins don't go for 2 on their TD afterwards. The Jets are still 4 points behind at the end if they don't go for 2 at some point.
I wish there were more threads like this. Only thing I would add is that our OL dominated for the most part yesterday, which they really haven't done the entire year out side of the Oakland, but who knows if that's a real test. Brick played really well and for the first time in a while I saw Faneca knocking people over. It really is unfortunate that you lose a game to ST with Westhoff coaching, but I guess anything can happen. In the end, one person made us lose, Ted Ginn. And he still sucks as a receiver.
The bottom line? The bottom line is the Jets lost to hated Miami, now three times in a row. Go ahead and try to look for the silver lining. Not me.
Good call ... Hopefully it will be more than mediocre, but I am proud to say I'm a JETS fan ... The Wins will come
this isn't directed at you any more than anyone else but your post made me think about it. why in a win is it never a problem to look at the negatives and what needs to be improved for next game, but in a loss it is never ok to look at the positives and what the team did well? the game is much more complicated than the stat lines and the final score. for those of us who are looking for this team to grow into a perennial contender it is nice to see the maturation of sanchez throughout a season or game or quarter or drive. it is nice to see this team still fighting with two of our best players gone for the season. it was nice to see the team fight and keep themselves in the game after that third quarter from hell. none of it changes the fact that i am pissed about the loss, but i can step back and see this team wasn't winning the superbowl this year anyway so i like to look for signs that they can grow into something special with time and experience. call it whatever you like but i don't see the problem in acknowledging that the team did good things even in defeat.
You had me at the first sentence! Agree 100%. The suicidal SOJ fans need to get a grip. This team has looked very impressive at times and shown flashes of brilliance. We are young, (i know o-lin) and are only going up. The loss sucked balls yesterday, but Rex's Defense played great and Mark is obviously learning what he needs to learn and protecting the football. I'm happy with the team ans it's direction but that doesn't mean I'm happy about the loss.
The answer to your post is that critiquing the team after a win is really a form of looking ahead - what weaknesses might still cause problems down the road? What will the team do about them, and hopefully not rest on the laurels of winning. It is a forward looking exercise. After a devastating loss like yesterday to the hated fish, with the team having lost 4 of its last 5 games, looking forward is the kind of thing I have a hard time feeling good about. See the difference?
The D, again, did not play "great" yesterday. They gave up the winning score. The team lost. Looking for good things in a defeat like that is for peole who want to feel good about defeats.
then your expectations were too high coming into this season. rookie QB + rookie HC = bumps in the road. If you can't resign yourself to that fact.....then you're in for a rough season as a Jets fan.
