Miller looked slow. The knee injury obviously has made him lose a step.

If Brad Smith was healthy today and sat, that decision probably cost the Jets the game.

I know people love him, but Woodhead is not an NFL player. He is just too small. Why put a guy like that on kick coverage????

Clowney cost the Jets two first downs today by running 3rd down patterns short of the sticks.

I agree 100% with MB but I'd like to add one point...

    7) FUCK TED GINN JR - He's had 3 TD's this year, all against the Jets. If it weren't for that herb we would have swept Miami. Fuck him in the goat ass !!

This about sums it up. If Schottenheimer is going to get blame, it's for waiting too long before he actually took the shackles off Sanchez; he clearly didn't want to trust him with the game until it was already almost out of hand. But I'm not even sure if that's fair - for most of the game the defense was forcing Miami into one 3-and-out after another, which is exactly the recipe for a ball control game.

I didn't think this was a 10 win team when the season began, got fooled for a minute after the first three games, but certainly didn't think it was a 10 win team after Jenkins and Washington got hurt. Being 4-4 at the bye is obviously consistent with that too.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the CS seems to play conservative during the 1'st half, then bring on some decent plays in the second? It's almost like they're waiting for the opposing team to play their bag of tricks first. Then adjust?

I miss Leon and Kris. Both huge blows IMO.

That being said, I'm not crying in my beer going into a bye 4-4, it is actually where I thought we would be at preseason.

I agree with everything with one minor caveat- Sanchez looked like pure shit in the first half. He looked much better in the second. I'm less concerned about his football talent and more concerned about him mentally. At some points, he did not look like a leader of men. After he scored that TD though he came back to life.

Very good post MBGreen. I think Smith was held out as a precautionary measure. He'll be back after the bye. I had my breakdown after the last Phins game. I'm now resigned to the fact that this team is going to finish somewhere between 7-9 and 9-7. They are a team that is a work in progress. Sanchez is gong to be an excellent QB. This year is going to pay huge dividends for him in the future. Rookie QB + Rookie HC does not equal SB Champion. Both Ryan and Sanchez will come out of this season better prepared for the future.

IMO, Mark Sanchez is WAAY too emotional. He's f'n bipolar out there and that ain't good. He needs to calm down and grow up just a little bit more this season..

Have to agree with your post. Altho' I keep reading that Mark is doing a ton better than Peyton & Eli did in their rookies years....Mark has to stop that stupid pouting on the sidelines. He isolates and gets into a funk, instead of standing next to the coaches, figuring out the next plan of action.

Also, he seems to need a lot of reassurance. At the end of the game when Mark was sad with his face down, and Edwards was patting him on the head, then Mark pouted some more, and Edwards patted him on the head again...I thought he was acting like a little kid, instead of an NFL QB.

No doubt, Mark has great passion....he is just struggling emotionally, a bit.

"I feel sorry for our Defense. They did their part extreemly well. Dolphins got a flukey win here."

Kinda like you did with the Farve lame duck hail mary. Looks like Karma is alive and well.

    cause MBGreen said so!

i agree with everything you posted. they did a good job in the second half of getting sanchez some throws that he looked comfortable on. for him it seems like if you can get him to complete two or three he gets a shot of confidence. it would be nice to see him like that all the time but it is nice to know he has it in him.

the bottom line is the offense and defense played well enough for the jets to win today and the special teams let them down. i like that they kept fighting after the 3 return td's and still made it a game. as this team grows this type of game will become a win. i see lots of potential on this team and if it all comes together sooner rather than later we could see a playoff run, but that is probably wishful thinking until they can pull out some of these games.

I agree with the bottom line...

Justin Miller picked up some bad habits while in Oakland...he got some lead in his ass.

    1) Sanchez was great today, he has the talent and the offensive weapons he just needs to be more consistent.

2)We need someone on special teams to really step up and I could see Smith being that guy. Izzo hasn't been very impressive so far, Woodhead looked awful on ST today, and I haven't noticed Wallace Wright on ST all season long.

3)The wildcat is a joke. Teams are starting to figure out how to stop it and if the Dolphins can't find ways to score points on offense without it, they're fucked.

4)Completly agree on Braylon Edwards, this is really the kind of receiver a rookie needs to really progress in this league.

5)Jenkins is a monster. It will be a tough loss but good teams find ways to win when they lose their star players. Leon was always a threat to take it to the house everytime he touched it, I think we'll really feel the effects of losing him later in the season.

6)Mike Westoff won't let his special teams play that way again. Hes too good of a coach to let it happen.

You take any critisism of Sanchez far too personally. He did not suck today. He played a decent game. He didn't lose the game, but he didn't win it either when it was there for him to win. He made more mistakes, but they didn't result in turnovers today. He was not why we lost, and that was a pleasant change.

Brad Smith has been hurt. He would have been active if he were healthy. Both Izzo and Woodhead have played well so far. They missed today, but if you want to place blame... Feeley is supposed to stay back, and he didn't. If he did, he would have had a shot at a tackle or at least a "slow down" on both returns. I'm sure that the outside coverage man (whoever that was supposed to be) also abandoned his assignment trying to jump and make a tackle.

On your other points, I largely agree. Miller is done, but what is up with the Woodhead hatred? You would not like to see him as a return man? You just know he's worthless? Last week Westoff talked about how well Woodhead played on ST's. Were the TD's all on Izzo and Woodhead? No.

Is it just me, or does Sanchez seem to play better when we are down by a decent margin?

because he looked pretty bad in the first half, and then once we got down it seemed as though he just said "what the hell, the games over if i dont throw it around..." and low and behold the same thing happens.

He did the same thing in the first Fins game as well. What about the Pats game? he played great leading us up and down the field until we took the lead, then we had trouble moving the ball. The Titans game he played well out of the gate, then sucked, then we fell behind and he stepped up and took us back in front.

In the bills game, we never fell behind until we lost, the saints game he pressed too much and that cost him quite a bit.

It seems he just plays better when we are behind and he stops trying to protect the rock and just plays ball.

I don't take the Sanchez criticism personally.....I just find it ridiculous for anyone to dump on a kid in his first season..really, what's the expectation?? that he takes us to the Super Bowl in his first year?..I'll wait till he's got 2 or 3 years in this system before I scrutinize his ability to make plays.

Having said that....I don't expect to lose every game....but I've also accepted the fact that this season will be a roller coaster ride with him at the helm....he's learning on the job. And for the most part, Sanchez is doing pretty well for himself.

Izzo missed key tackles and looked pretty damn slow in doing so. Ginn waltzed around him so well, I bet Taylor gets him a tryout on Dancing with the Stars next season.

I never liked Woodhead....even in preseason. He's a midget playing amongst giants....and tackles like a fairy. I know that sounds harsh...but that's what I saw today. He was a complete "non-factor".

But i will agree on Feely...he was out of position. But since we shouldn't have to rely on the Kicker to make ST tackles ....and he did hit a 55 yarder today...I have no problem giving Feely a pass on ST. Izzo is paid to make tackles.

Gimme a break with criticizing Feely, the guy had two monster tackles today! He's the best tackling kicker in football.

That is the problem. He is supposed to stay back on returns, he isn't supposed to be blasting through the wedge to make tackles. He is supposed to hang back and do what he can if a returner breaks through. He was out of position. It's all about playing your assignment, not looking like a hero. Two monster tackles, two KO's returned for TD's. I'd happilly give up the 2 tackles for a stop of a TD return even if it's inside the ten. If he could have stopped either return, playing his assignment... the Jets win today.
