So this crap year in and year out is acceptable for you? As a fan, you're saying I don't have a right to voice my opinions of the organization?
Yeah, I get that. And I am pretty sure that is what Bowles is. However, I think that is the right move to make. Idzik was a complete disaster at GM, so removal after 2 years made sense. Bowles was (10-6) last year. (3-8) this year, likely to finish (5-11) or (6-10). If he does, he will get year 3. If he goes (3-13) you could make an argument to fire him for sure. People around the league love him for some reason.
"The Jets are just a bad organization and it starts at the top. Woody is clueless about football. " I don't see how anyone can argue with that. Sadly, it doesn't look like Woody is going to sell the team. Three years ago I argued that he should either sell or move the team to another city and let us start over with a clean slate, but then he hired Maccagnan and Bowles and I regained some small hope. I still think Maccagnan is the right guy, and Bowles may be too, but I think Woody's interference - starting with not having Bowles report to Mac - is the real problem. At this point somebody needs to tell Bowles to forget about Fitzpatrick and play Petty for better or worse so we can see what we need to do going forward. If he won't do that, he should be fired now. Almost no team gets to the SB without a great QB - exceptions happen (Joe Kapp), but the surest path is with a great QB, and there is almost no chance you'll find one of these as a FA or find a team willing to trade one away, so that leaves drafting one and developing him, But here's an apparent news flash for. Bowles & Co.: You gotta PLAY somebody to develop him. If Petty isn't the answer - and I've seen nothing that tells me he cant be - then play Hackenburg, and if he isn't then you know what you need to do in the draft. All I know is that you can't coach arm strength or football IQ - a player either has those two ingredients or they don't, and it's long past time we find out if any QB the Jets currently have has them.
The owner shouldn't have to know a thing about football if he had a GM or coach who did which sadly he doesn't.
Didn't Hess hire Parcells? Yeah he did...and there was plenty of shenanigans involved. One of the few times where it was fun being a Jets fan.
The bottom line is that Mac hasn't proven himself to be a "bad" GM. Bowles on the other hand is not making a case for himself to be the head coach that this team can flourish under. I don't really think it has much to do with the pecking order.
I keep thinking there is a place for Mangini on this coaching staff. These guys are soft, and its obvious that Bowles has no balls. Maybe make Mangini the DL coach next year? The players hated him because he was a hard ass. Light a fire under those overpaid, underproducing clowns...
Like they say, "Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while". That doesn't mean they know what they're doing. It's no coincidence that teams like the Steelers, Broncos, Packers, Cowboys, New England (ugh!)m and even the Giants (ugh!) are consistenty successful - their ownership knows what it takes to win. This is true for all sports of course. The Jets ownership, since Sonny Werblin don't have a clue, they're rich guys playing fantasy football.
For all his flaws, Mangenious does know football. I find it hard to believe he doesn't have a coaching job at any level in the NFL. I think he's just got a personality that just doesn't jive with today's players.
I think if Bowles was reporting to Maccagan, the "long view" might be taken, and Bowles might be saved from himself. I think he might be a good coach, given the right players. That said, if a better H.C. was available, I wouldn't say no to switching. I wonder ho much Chan Gailye has to say about the game plans being issued? I can't fathom why a team would decide to ignore the pass catching threat from a TE - a certain team in N.E. seems to have some success with that approach.
There's no doubt that the Jets have been snakebit since '69. It wasn't that long ago that the Cowboys were the most dysfunctional NFL team...primarily because of Jerry Jones. At least that was the storyline. How's that looking now? Winning is everything...and that's what we can't seem to do. We're not even in the conversation, and that what is truly sad.
What's even sadder is that there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. This is not a good football team and is going to take quite some time to fix. And we don't know what we have at the most important position going into next year. FML.
It's not rocket science. We weren't world beaters coming out of this offseason. What about our roster and this offseason truly inspired confidence that this team was truly on the verge of winning a championship or even coming close to that? People need to wake up and get off the media hype pre-season. They were wrong, this team was never a contender. Wake up already it's embarrassing.
I wasn't expecting them to be in the SB, or even make the playoffs, given their schedule, but I did expect them to be competitive and making progress, but at the key positions - especially QB and Revis - they've gone backwards. Adding to that is Bowles' refusal to play Petty/Hackenburg once it became clear the Jets were out of it. Yeah, I fully understand his focus is protecting his job, and he does that by winning as many games as he can, player development be damned, but that's why he should be under the command of the GM who has longer term goals. And speaking of longer term, just where does he begin to fix this rotting vessel? I'm fully awake, I just wish this nightmare of 47 years and counting would end.
Todd Bowles SUCKS and he absolutely must GO. With that said, if that shithead Mac wants to go to the media and stroke that retard Bowles, then I think Mac should get shit canned as well. I don't care what he thought he had to say, that's just a very lame attempt at treating Jets fans like a bunch of stupid A$$es and that pisses me off worse than anything. I personally think Mac should stay knowing that he fucked up royally selecting that little twerp in the 1st round. That little twit has not helped the team win a single game this season. Mac was the idiot that passed up an OL just to select Verne. If he does not start picking some serious talent, I think he should be fired after 2017........
I think this team started believing their own bullshit, after finishing 10-6. Add that with Fitz holding out, and the offense not progressing. Decker getting hurt surely put a damper on his game. What I find most fucking annoying is the pass D and the secondary. Revis is a pile of petrified crap, in a green wrapper. Normally I wouldn't fester on him, but he's a bonafide liability. In-game adjustments exist in a parallel universe, just not this one apparently. The team always looks woefully prepared. The ultimate problem for me, is Woody Johnson. When you hire Tim Tebow, Mike Vick....and not because Vick's legal issues....Vick utterly fucking sucked by the time he wound up in the Jets Early Bird Special Roster Programâ„¢, but because it's such an obvious marketing ploy, with no actual football value. That's fucking absurd. This isn't the WWE ffs. That, I believe, is all Woody gives a shit about. Yo money....
