I sat out the Fall League this year, I play on the company team but the coach is a real douche so half the team walked out. It's coed beer league and the guy acts like he is Bobby fucking Valentine. I don't mind sitting out some innings so the chicks can play but when the coach is worse then half the girls and plays all the innings kind of makes it suck.

I'm not a power hitter, I like to rip em right up the middle. Nothing like making a pitcher shit him/herself when you rip a screamer right by their crotch or face. We actually ahd some lez bitch pitch in the spring league who had the nerve to start talking shit from the mound. Needless to say I tried to shut her mouth up. I failed so I was quite pissed about it until I heard a few weeks later that some big Hawaiian lez bitch silenced her with a bottle to the skull. Fun stuff....

I love playing softball. Last year was probably my best season ever. I played in a Summer town league and played in a Fall league as well. In the fall league I batted over .700! But I got a lot of cheap hits. In the summer league I batted .462 but hit the crap out of the ball. That's the way it goes in baseball/softball - it always balances out.

    It does.

You can only roll a composite bat. When you roll a new bat it breaks the composite fibers apart evenly making the sweet spot larger on the barrel.

When you roll an already broken in bat it still breaks the fibers down but it also distributes the unevenly broken in parts throughout the barrell evenly giving the bat more pop.

You live in CA right? There's a place in Arizona that does it for 30 bucks.

2 summers ago I played on a team with a guy who was semi-pro. The kid was amazing, canon for an arm, hit BOMBS.

So they kept statistics and I was just behind him in all the batting stats. So one day I go to him (and this is when I found out he was semi-pro)

"Dude you are pretty good, you play in a lot of leagues?"

He goes, "Yeah, played a little amateur ball."

I go, "No shit? You hit the ball like a monster. What position did you play?"

    Him: "I was a pitcher."

Just completely dispelled any notion I had that I could have been a ball player if I didn't have knee surgery.

It's insane. We had a guy who played in some Canadian amateur league who would destroy every ball and make some ridiculous catches. You kind of have more respect for MLB players after seeing shit like that.

TG, I never emphasized I was having the statistical season of my life at the plate that summer.

And it was like this kid was barely swinging and just effortlessly hitting bombs. You're right it gives you a whole new appreciation for pros.

Another good example of this is when I played against collegiate talent in basketball @ Syracuse. Guys from the team would come down and play pick up games from time to time.

Guys like Josh Pace, Kueth Duany (role players, never got to play with Carmelo though I never saw him at the gym)..so these guys were players who came off the bench and they were just toying with us.

It's fun though to get all Pros v. Joes, super competitive only to get completely blown out of the gym. So I can sit here today and recount stories of it to people on the internet.

My absolute dream would be to get 2 at bats against a pro-pitcher just to see if I could get a clean hit.

Not like Pros v. Joes where you get the washed up former pro, I'm talking about facing Halladay or CC.

I would need 1 at bat to get timing and the 2nd to hope for the best, the only condition is that they would have to throw strikes.

I used to drop bombs when I was new to SB thinking it was the best way to establish myself as a good player. Realizing that my average was below .500 and not at par with the what the team was looking for, I tweaked my stance, my swing, and generally how I approach each at-bat. I live in the middle of the field, and swing for line drives and hard ground balls. I usually dump them short of the OF, but I pay attention to how they adjust to me when I get up. If they start playing me IN, I destroy the ball over their head, preferably to RF where I can at least get a 3-bagger.

I don't think I have hit a HR in my last 3 seasons, when I hit roughly 5 a season before I made my changes. I hit typically between .600 - .800 now. I'd say it was good choice...

I wish I saved the damn STAT spread sheet. I must have deleted it from GMAIL.

Edit: I'm emailing the coach to see if he still has it.

Trust me she deserved everything she got. I'm just pissed I didn't take her out. I think she may have been a man in disguise.

I've obviously never faced somebody like Halladay but I did take some BP with guys in the minors. Pretty awesome feeling to be in any pro stadium and take BP. The best part of it was one of my alltime favorite Mets Roger McDowell was the pitching coach with the 51s at the time I took a few swings off him. He was throwing some meatballs but my guess is he was still throwing in the upper 60's. I didn't really get any good rips but I did hit one down the 1st base line that had triple all over it. That was my favorite part about working in the minors, if it was slow or we didn't feel like working we could just go out and hit baseballs.

did you guys track stats on a website, or was this all just from the books and distributed with a hard copy.

I went with this site for a year and a half, before our team disbanded...

It was the best job I ever had... the offseason sucks and 12 game homestands wear your ass down but the benefits especially at the AAA level are untouchable. When I worked in the rookie league I used to bullshit with the Royal's #1 prospect every single day. The sad part is you do see what a business it is. Watching guys get released is sad. It's like you never see your cowrkers get fired but when somebody gets released generally the whole clubhouse knows it's going down. Especially at the rookie level.

They tracked it on a website but the coach kept a spread sheet.

Also, he gave me the spread sheet too. I tried to paste it in here but it won't format right.

Here's me making a diving catch. I'm grateful the league GM was there taking pictures that day.

For perspective, I am in left field and I'm diving away from the infield.
