I was excited until I saw it was incarceratedbob. If anything this means Marrone is more likely to get the job than not. Damn.

You do realize that "unanimous sources" means they all agree, don't you?

    Tastes like chicken, too!

hahahaha don't pat yourself/us on the back. Woody Johnson & crew aren't reading TGG for advice on running the team. WOW

what has Quinn accomplished? what has any of the candidates in the fray for everyone right now accomplished? you could sarcastically say the same thing about all the HC candidates

He won a ring as a DC and has the #1 ranked defense in the league, on his way to a potential 2nd ring. That's more than you can say for Marrone.

He's a coordinator. A coordinator on a team loaded with talent. Still very much unproven. At least Marrone's been on the hot seat and oversaw an entire team... both are very much question marks as to their success as HCs

That defense was nasty before he arrived. They're stacked with talent on D - were 9th in 2011, 4th in 2012 and then 1st the last two years since he arrived. He's doing a good job but how much of it is him?

    Well....Maybe they should be.

    Game this out.

    team hires coach.

    has shitty offensive staff.

    goes to playoffs.

    repeatedly,.

    team finally shitcans OC.

    hires new oc.

and shitcans long time GM, over perception, not staff.

    hmmm..

then new GM shitcans QB, birthing two miserable seasons.

then team shitcans both HC and GM.

Too bad. Idziks plan was to go 0-16 to be positioned for JT Barrett coming out.

But I don't want another guy from the fat part of the bell curve in the head coach's office. Can't the Jets find someone with a flicker of life and a little bit of promise who can inspire this team and communicate with the fanbase? He's out there somewhere but may take a bit more digging to find than the guy who just quit his job in mediocrity.

I can't believe that mediocrity is so acceptable to so many posting here.

I would have no problems at all with Quinn. I was hoping for a HC with HC'ing experience, but Quinn and Bowles are two guys that I would be fine with that didn't have HC'ing exp.

I think the offense/defense thing is a tad overrated. I just want the best candidate and hopefully if he is a D guy he puts the right O staff in place.

    HC hires since Walt Michaels:

Walt Michaels D and brought us back to playoffs and left great team for next coach
Joe Walton O- inherited great young team and screwed it up
Bruce Coslet O- 1 PO app in 4 years and we were 8-8
Pete Carroll D- never given a shot here, last I heard he was coaching somewhere out west.
Rich Kotite O- no comments necessary
    Bill Parcells D-
Al Groh D- only bad D hire in this timeframe
Herm D- 3 PO apps in 5 years
Mangini D- 1 PO app in 3 years
Rex D- only coach w/ 2 title game apps

we've done much better w/ D than O coaches in my lifetime.

Manish and this Bob guy are typically always wrong and 2 guys that I always ignore but I'm praying that just once these guys are correct. Woody, just say no to Marrone.

I just realized what I see in this guy's eyes is confidence. I want a coach with confidence who inspires confidence in everyone around him. A guy with confidence is going to be able to lose 42-41 or 42-3 and stand in front of a couple of dozen reporters and answer their questions. A guy with that kind of confidence is not going to need to filter all the information the team releases. The confident coach is going to bring the best, most confident coaches to his staff and they're going to get the best out of every guy on the field guy.

I don't know if Quinn is that guy and I don't really care at this point. I want the Jets to land the right guy for the job. I don't see Marrone fitting that description.
