He might want way more than he's worth. He's an OK player. I'd prefer keeping him. But he's not worth more than $8 million a year. He has more market value than that. Don't overpay for mediocre players. He's good, he's not great.
hey I thought the deadline for franchise tagging players had passed. WTF. did they give these guys an extension?
The Jets have been terrible for the last 4 years (Much longer but you get it). Any decision that Joe Douglas makes should not be questioned yet. Robby Anderson, Jordan Jenkins, etc. All solid players, but if he evaluated them and felt they were not worth retaining, so be it. Let him rebuild this roster how he wants.
I agree with this. If he's being unreasonable and wants upwards of $10 million a year, then so be it. He can walk. I think he's worth $9-$10 million a season. The Jets could make it a short-term deal if they're looking to upgrade his spot long term. They could load the deal with easily obtainable incentives that could give Jenkins more $s. I just think we need to be filling holes, not creating more holes. The bottom line is that I'm gonna trust what Douglas does until he proves me wrong. If he lets Jenkins walk it's because Jenkins got greedy, or the Jets value Poole or Anderson more than Jenkins and wouldn't have been able to pay them and sign FAs if they paid Jenkins what he wants.
Cutting Polite before the season started and trading a disappointing Leo for at least a 2020 3rd are looking great.
So it looks like it was DJ for Hopkins. Jesus you'd pray there's more to it than that or Bill O'Brien should be tarred and feathered.
