DeAndre Hopkins is reportedly on the block. He'll be 28 years old with two-three good years left I'd say. He's not an overly fast player so I suspect him to struggle on his mid thirties.
Falcons cut CB Desmond Trufant. Kirk Cousins gets 2 year extension in Minnesota. Ian Rapoport reports the Steelers have placed the Franchise Tag on Bud Dupree.
i’ve been saying for years that he’s the best route runner in the league, has the most diverse route tree and has the best hands. Two years ago I would have made a case for him to be the best receiver in the entire league and I did many times. Not an easy thing to do in 2017 when you’re surrounded by Giants fans in Beckham jerseys. that being said, and it pains me to say this, it would cost at least a first round pick and we are in no position to be doing that for a guy that doesn’t have at least a decade’s worth of top tier play left in him.
Agreed. I'll be curious to see what the actual asking price will be but I'm not big on going after positions that fade in their early 30's. Some receivers can keep their game longer than others. The majority of top flight receivers fade though within a couple years of that age mark.
They must feel really good about a couple receivers in the draft that they're willing to try to replace the $16+ million cap hit and get 5 years younger and cheaper in the process before he hits a tank period. Maybe they see him slowing down?
Their first pick is in round 2 and 57th overall, so they'll likely get a WR who won't hit the ground running on day 1. Maybe I'm wrong, but I believe Nuk has at least 5 good years left in him and the Texans aren't in rebuild mode.
Well they could be thinking about grabbing a first and a third or fourth for him. Which beefs up their draft picks a lot. I agree with you. It'd be strange to trade him. But I'm just making sense of what their likely logic is. They could just be floating it out there to see how much someone is willing to overpay.
Completely forgot about the high draft pick they'd get back. I suppose they could land Ruggs if they get a high enough pick. I don't see them getting Jeudy or Lamb, the 2 WR's who will be ready to make an impact right away IMO.
There's very little to suggest that Hopkins will slow down anytime soon. Sure he had a down season this year (I know because he killed me basically all season in Fantasy). However that was more to do with that team's overall struggles and shaky offensive philosophy IMO. I see another 5 year run out of him before he does. He's got Shaq size hands, catches everything in range of him and that's a big part of his greatness. Those aren't going anywhere. He's also dynamic as hell. The Texans will surely be asking for a hefty return (a 1st and a 2nd, or a 1st and 2 3rds). I guess they want to load up on more premium round draft picks since they don't have many currently.
Hopefully Robby Anderson. I'd rather sign him to a long term without the tag; but I'd HATE to see him go.
